  1. Saskatchewan kids here fighting is viewed so differently here compared to eastern Canada and many states. Being honourable is much much higher here I've noticed and fights are viewed more as a protection tactic than an act of violence. Protection of those around you is about as high as you can go on the honourable acts list. It is pretty dirty hockey in the senior leagues here they lowered the fighting penalty back to only a 5 minute major instead of game misconduct and the stick work and slew footing decreased significantly. Fighting hasn't increased either. The players have realized fighting a farm boy who has lifted a couple hundred, 90-pound bales every day in July since he was like 10 years old multiple times in a game is not fun.

  2. I think Noel showed great energy when healthy. But I look at him as a young Jeff Carter type. He doesn’t really help us a whole lot

  3. I think Parros is one of the worst at his job. Zero clarity, and rarely is what is given out what you think should be. I'm with you on Trouba DK….can't stand him as a hockey player and that he is given a golden leash by the NHL that is limitless it seems

  4. There's another topic: Gary Bettman. Who comes after him? And the much more important question is – what needs to happen – what is the priority – after he – if he ever – finally steps aside?

  5. Player safety should always come first, especially when it comes to the head and neck area. I'll take skill and talent any day of the week. Thank you DK, good one.

  6. Shouldn’t a perennial Lady Byng trophy finalist type former player run the department of player safety?

  7. You're spot on. For whatever reason, the people who run the NHL have always been afraid that the skilled players would take over and leave the rest behind. I used to think it was because they were afraid that the Canadian-born players would lose too many jobs in the NHL to the high flying players that were coming over from Russia and Eastern Europe, but I think it runs even deeper than that.

  8. If anything, DK could have gone even harder on this topic….The fact that the NHL's media presence increasingly revolves around lunkheads who couldn't pass the 7th Grade and get put on a pedestal because they had a cup of coffee in the league 15 years ago is a curse. The bro-ifiication of the NHL sucks….

  9. D.K. you are sadly spot on. 100% the biggest crime in the NHL happened when George Parros became the head of player safety. The only other "more fitting" head of played safety would be Jacob Trouba. The only reason this department exists is so the NHL does not get sued. This must be fixed when the commissioner resigns.
