Hey all and it’s more news of the day.

  1. A lil bit worried about Vinik selling the team, this current ownership group has been pretty good for the org and I have no idea what to expect with a new ownership group… But looking at how much less successful teams like Ottawa and Arizona are fetching a billion dollars now, I can imagine the idea of cashing out now is very appealing.

  2. It’s crazy how fast team values have risen. Seattle’s expansion fee was 660 million I believe and Winamp’s valued at 2 billion one would assume Seattle is probably valued at least at 1.5 billion especially considering the 1.2 billion Ryan Smith just paid. Doubling team values after 3 years is insane, but great job to the NHL on growing the brand

  3. As a Tampa resident and fan I’m really really really hoping this management can continue the great work vinik has done. But considering it’s a PE group I doubt it will.

  4. Hopefully the new owner of my bolts will give us back our 92 colors and dump the Toronto Smurf Blueberry look.

  5. That's right, kiddos, Tampa is finally getting relocated to a real hockey market. Welcome back, Nordiques!

  6. I remember when people wanted the Canucks to take Cody Class over Elias Pettersson. I get it, but still. As for Tampa, they're likely staying put. The NHL has shown that they'd rather lose money and stay in a failing or struggling market than admit failure and move to a more viable place. Market size isn't everything. It doesn't matter how big the market is if nobody's interested in hockey. If all they care about is size, Brazil would be a good spot. Big market there. Obviously, having an NHL rink matters, but it seems market size is the number one consideration, along with corporate backing.

  7. 2 Billion is a lot of money for a team that will be entering a rebuild within the next 3 years.

  8. Not to mention, bittersweet day for Rangers fans. Sam Rosen announced this will be his last season doing Play by Play

  9. 2 bil is like 1 billion just a few years ago. Inflation isn't pretty. The hamburger is almost 15 bucks now at some places.

  10. The pens are like 1-2 players away from a solid wild card spot at least for this season, malkin is on the downhill but this will probably be his last "decent" season before a full drop off for his last year

  11. It hasn’t seemed to hurt them (yet) but hanging onto Glass while trading Suzuki turned out to be a mistake for Vegas.

He’s had a rough time of it dealing with injuries, but even healthy it’s hard to see what Glass had to offer compared to what Suzuki’s brought to struggling Montreal.

  12. I cant believe Lightning are for Sale Vinik did so much work in the team for years including rebuilding parts of tampa like Ybor

  13. Cody Glass, the Vegas first, first round pick, sixth overall in 2017. I've always hoped he would turn into something. Glass was the one they kept over Nick Suzuki (13th), now in Montreal and Erik Brannstrom (16th), now in Colorado.
His best year has been 14 goals and half point a game with Nashville the year before last.

  14. Shannon, still no contract for Sidney Crosby. He has to stay in Pittsburgh, but what is drawing this out? Training camp will be starting in mere weeks.

  15. Jeff Vinik timing the market perfectly. He understands that there is still false hope value. Tampa's got 3-4 years before their revenue declines big time until they draft/obtain the next generational player equivalent pair similar to Lecavalier/St.Louis as it was Stammer/Hedman. Their financials won't be the same for the next decade even two, depending on how bad this recession lingers.

  16. Benning was hot for Glass during his draft year, smarter heads talked Benning into taking Pettersson. There is a God.
