$4.5 would’ve been beyond our budget. I’m happy St Louis is doing it, should help level the playing field between us and Edmonton.

Why have the money to offer sheet Broberg when we could pay OEL to win cups with another team instead?

Nah. Glad Broberg got the bag and Edmonton suffers a little, but 4M is a huge pill to swallow for someone so unproven.

Broberg really cashed in on a decent 10 playoff games this year jeez

Love that Oiler fans are bickering over whether the players have actually signed these offer sheets or if they have just been “offered” these deals and they can decline….sheesh.
It is beyond their comprehension that someone would choose to sign with a team other than their beloved Oilers

With what cap space would we have been able to offer sheet Broberg?
Sure if we didn’t sign Forbert, Desharnais and Sprong we could have offer sheeted Broberg but then we’ve lose out on a bunch of depth and be capped out to make no moves during the season.
And before anyone says ‘well Tucker Poolman would be LTIR’ if we are going above the salary cap during the offseason, we do not get the full LTIR cap relief for Poolman during the season, we would only get a portion of it and we also wouldn’t be able to accrue any cap space for trade deadline which is what we had to deal with this past season.

4.5M for broberg is crazy. With our cap space? Pass.

That’s a hefty price to pay especially considering the loss of a second round draft pick.

This is bad for the Oilers which is great for the Canucks. Good omen for the season

Part of me wonders how much these moves are a sign of disrespect towards the Oilers (granted its earned, especially since the Bowman hire.) Offer sheets are so rare, even more so lately, this almost seems like a fuck you from the Blues on behalf of the league towards the Oilers for their latest unnecessary reclamation project. The last offer sheet we saw was a similar sentiment with Montreal and Carolina.
