The GOAT covering the GOAT!
Marty is the pinnacle of a great teammate. Gave up a little and gained legendary status in the end. Along with a few of his teammates that might not of been there if he was in it to only make as much as possible during his career. Man, was it great to ALWAYS have him in net. It hurt big time when he went to the Blues. I actually had to take a break, he was the final straw , regarding the “Devils greatest” retiring or leaving for other teams. It f’ing sucked. Along with 2012 and 2005.
I’m guessing the players that have agents just don’t feel like going through the contract negotiating bs and rather give up some money to have others do it for them. Marty had the Ace in the hole, which was himself, so negotiating was probably simple. Since he took the pay cut voluntarily, how could Lou argue?

Imagine if he was greedy. Probably wouldn’t have been on the team as long as he was. Wouldn’t have 3 Cups.
The Devils would be as bad as the Rags when it comes to years past since Cup wins and total Cups. Without him, the Rags wouldn’t be the Devils b***h all these years. Unless you win the Cup, the regular season doesn’t matter.
He left money on the table for the betterment of the team….definition of a selfless player. Imagine if Brady Thachuck does that to come to NJ. #BringBradytoNJ

Brodeur is team first…legend of Jersey! Devils greedy/analytic owners should read a page of his book. Tom Brady was the same way, took less $ to keep players and win championships. But, it was great kicking his a** in 2 Super Bowls! Keep it cool Ace…LGD!!
