what happens if you don’t quit

In 2020, I went deaf and damaged my balance system overnight, the doctors said my ability to continue climbing would be over.
I had to re-learn to walk, and over the years, relearn to climb again.

This video follows my progress from December 2023 – August 2024, as I try to see what’s possible.

  1. Don't be afraid to post your struggles, you don't have to wait for a win to update us. Continuing to climb at Font with two busted ankles is something most of us probably wouldn't do, the video was worth watching even without the great climb at the end.

  2. Thank you for sharing your progress ❤❤❤ you are such an inspiration! Im not gonna lie, this video made me cry a little because of how real it is and how strong you are throughout all this!

  3. We love you bro! You're a huge inspiration in your determination and perseverance. Talking with you in the past about injuries and how you stay motivated was really big for me, especially the book you recommended. I find myself in a similar, but less severe boat of injuries (pulleys) that has caused me to reevaluate my own climbing and if I should continue or not, but your videos like this really cement it in my mind that I can't let myself be defeated by these mental barriers have I put in front of myself.

  4. Emil really is one of the realest human beings out there, I'm not sure I've ever seem someone quite so genuinely supportive as when he was helping you off that boulder with a hug.

  5. you sending that yellow white tape boulder actually made me tear up. You are an absolute inspiration, I wish you all the best in life.

  6. Not going to lie, I had tears in my eyes when you topped put that white. This has given me a HUGE boost in motivation! Cant wait to see what you do next❤

  7. Just getting back into climbing and here is Eric with his magical powers of inspiration. Keep it up man never give up. Appreciate the work you do

  8. Really good film/video, all in all! As a paraclimber with a wide variety of disabilities, it is always interesting for me to observe how important it is for me to have goals, expectations, pressure, will, ambition, etc. but also joy, fun, self-love, respect for myself (body, mind, Soul), lightness/ease and much more to bring into balance/maintain the balance.

It may take certain life events to find and/or regain balance.

In any case, it is impressive to see how you go along your path and all of its challenges and also overcome some of them.

However, in my opinion, you don't always need a happy ending, an achieved goal, to do justice to something or someone, to deliver good content, etc. Sometimes your own demands can also block/close paths, at least that's my perception. I hope it's okay to say, don't be so hard on yourself, what you're doing is exactly what the people around you need and is perfect the way it is!

    Keep on going!
