Thanks for posting. Seems like pretty solid and realistic analysis.

They essentially are the same team as last year but slightly better due to the offseason additions and kyrou, thomas, bolduc, neighbours, Hofer getting more experience. They would have been in the playoffs last year if it weren’t for them choking against the San Jose sharks. Which brings up the point that they were really good against good teams, which indicates that they probably could do some damage if they make it in the playoffs. I think they have a decent chance of getting into a wildcard spot if they stay healthy this year.

I’m optimistic! Team will be more settled, lots of guys with something to prove, young teams can take big steps, and there’s plenty of ways to upgrade via trade or promotion. Kinda sneaky depth, too. There are definitely question marks but this team should be frisky.

I’m confident next year will be a lost year. I don’t see the Blues making the playoffs.

Our top line is a contender’s second line.
But also our 4th line is a contender’s 3rd line.
We’re rolling with 12 middle six forwards.
Blues: Aggressively Mid.

I hope not. Take some time and get some picks. Stop aiming for perpetual middle of the pack.

I know I’m one of the optimists on this sub, but it really all hinges on kyrou. Assuming schenn has similar to above production and neighbours drop off isn’t too drastic. Every other player on the team is pretty easy to predict that they will have very solid consistent numbers because of how they play and career. None of our pickups were risks to be garbage and decline. We know what their floors are. But kyrou has to become a top 50 player as his contract suggests for the blues to make moves. Thomas and buchy are top 50.

People are sleeping on Texier and Faksa. Texier is gonna add another scoring threat. Hopefully they play him with some other skill players.

We will finish just in or just out of the playoffs. If Binnington overperforms like he did last year we probably have the squad to make it in. If he regresses to the previous year then we aren’t close. We simply don’t have the consistency of talent we had 3 yrs ago.
