I’ll be the first to admit I hated that trade when ot happened but god damn it was brilliant.
Maybe not the Walker trade in Football which gave Dallas its dynasty (no trade in history will ever equal that one) but certainly up there.

He wasn’t a dominant force during this playoff run though. I wouldn’t say they won because of him. He was way more lights out last year, when they lost in the Finals.

Always was a big fan. Huby was soft and looking for an extension on the wrong side of 30. Chucky had been in some big playoff series battles and was the sand paper grit this team needed.

And how many people said the Panthers lost that trade?? People become too emotionally attached to players without realizing they’re not good enough sometimes. Huby wasn’t tough enough or hungry enough. Chucky is exactly what the doctor ordered.

In a recent interview bill zito said something something to the effect of “it’s about putting a square in a square hole. Sometimes you might have a really great triangle, but you need a square.” From a results perspective – it’s one of the most consequential direction flips. Turning an explosive offense into a suffocating forecheck wasn’t the move most people saw for success. The cats pinning the puck on the boards for 20 seconds to win in game 7 was about as illustrative of the change as you can get.

Incredible.

Idk man. 2025 first could be a Crosby-McDavid-Matthews combo drafted with the 32nd pick. Could be a big win for Montreal.

Tkachuk’s trade was pivotal. Glad he’s been a strong asset to the Panthers

sad to see Huby go 🐀 but I instantly recognized Tkachuk as having a skillset equal to, or greater than, Huby’s whilst also being 6yrs younger. maybe not as fast as Huby but grittier and hits more. kinda like his dad 🫡💯
