You just don't let guys like this walk. He did everything for your team, battled injuries, took discounts, etc. I think Tampa's mgmt really hurt their league-wide reputation as a franchise with that move. Sure you might be more slightly more competitive with Guentzel, but was it really worth it? Just my 2 cents

The Bolts hurt their reputation by doing what they felt they needed to win. Instead, they should have adopted the Country Club mentality and continued to lose, which would have gained the respect of potential free agents.

He’s given up more shots and xG than he’s generated for 3 seasons now. For the first 2, it was alright because his actual GF was still higher than his GA (essentially +/-). But then even that fell below 50% this year. His elite power play skills just arent worth $8m, but Nashville was willing to pay that much anyway, so now he’s a predator. The Forsberg-Josi-Stamkos PP could be elite, but I think Preds fans are going to be mildly disappointed in Stammer unless he has a real bounce back season.
