[Geoff Baker] I’m joining Seattle Kraken as a Vice-President, Editorial. I’ll add to already-strong writing content and help strategize storytelling on broadcast and other channels.

>CAREER NEWS: I’m joining Seattle Kraken as a Vice-President, Editorial. I’ll add to already-strong writing content and help strategize storytelling on broadcast and other channels. Leaving Seattle Times isn’t easy. But #SEAKraken made it easier. They have big things ahead. #NHL
I’m really excited they are going to have someone in this role. Not certain he’s the best choice to fill it.

Cool they have the role, but dude is a clown.

Nice reward for carrying their water during the dueling arena days.

I’m surprised they opted to bring him in. He has a bit of a negative, fairly critical writing style. I don’t think of that as what teams want to put out there through official channels.
That said, he’s a capable writer who knows what he’s talking about. I’m interested to see 1, how he adapts, and 2 how (presumably) Kate Shefte takes the mantle as the primary Kraken reporter for the Times.

Bye, Geoff.

Wtf?

It feels like the Kraken organization is completely disconnected from the fan base with this hire. I would imagine over 80% of the fans hate this guy.
Maybe it is an attempt to silence is critique of the team.

Well, won’t be reading any of *that* content…

Dude was a dick about the SoDo arena and the Marisa Ingemi situation. I’m happy we have CPA, but from a transit, access amd expanded stadium district stand point I’d much rather ha e the stadium down there. Won’t be reading his content

I miss marisa ingemi

This is… wierd. Does any other team have this role? I really don’t understand what it’s for

Congrats, can’t think of anyone worse for the role!

I think this is actually a good thing for Baker-haters. He’s now paid to do cold-take official communications instead of hot-take opinion pieces or clickbait.
