  1. È affascinante vedere come questa conversazione continua ad evolversi e svolgersi. C'è sempre qualcosa di nuovo da scoprire.💚

  2. I'm thoroughly impressed by the level of engagement in this thread. It's akin to witnessing a vibrant marketplace of ideas.🧡

  3. Top 50 the guy says. Lol. He’s probably the best hockey player of all time given that today’s game makes 25 yrs ago look like house league and he is head and shoulders above everyone else.

  4. That absolutely disgusting and shameful. Knowing espn they are woke and a bunch of black people that don’t watch hockey

  5. I'm curious where they put Crosby. Multiple gold medals, cups, world junior, youngest captain. Top 10 easily I'd say. IMO, in no particular order, here are who i think the top 10 are.

    1. Phelps
    2. Brady
    3. Messi
    4. Ronaldo
    5. Tiger Woods
    6. Serena Williams
    7. Djokavic
    8. LeBron James
    9. Usain Bolt
    10. Crosby
    11. Tony Hawk (maybe)
    12. Connor McGregor (again, maybe?)

There are probably (definitely) other athletes I'm missing, as I don't follow all sports and am just going off the top of my head but…

  6. 5 art Ross trophies. 3 harts. 1 Conn smythe. Still somehow worse than wnba players, nba players with 0 mvps or rings.

    Wild

  7. Mcdavid should be top 5. Mackinnon in the top 10. Other hockey players for sure. Hockey is disrespected all the time.

  8. Given McDavid has only played 9[!!!] seasons and still ranks in the Top 100 is rather special.

Ovi by contrast is #52 on the list with 19 seasons of play and 800+ goals to his credit.

Given time, McDavid will skyrocket up the list, but right now [July 2024] his credentials dont line up to being the 50th best player of the 2000s, hence his low ranking.

  9. I'm a Leafs fan and there is a clip of him just running from one end of the ice with the puck, through the forwards and the d-men of the Leafs like they were nothing, and scores a goal immediately. I wasn't mad, I was genuinely impressed and gob smacked. I don't even think Gretzky did that! Connor literally just went "Well, I have the puck… the net is only 200ft that way… Eh, I'll take it"

  10. Well, there are TALENTED athletes who perform really well. Then the lights are the brightest and they come up short.
Like.. McDavid in Games 6 & 7, where they didn't need him in one and DESPERATELY missed his presence in the other.
People said, for YEARS, that McDavid would easily win a Cup if he ever played for a team good enough to give him the opportunity.
And they got him to that stage and he came up short.
So we talk about this Williams sister not being the better sister, but that's like saying Messier and Robataille were trash because they played with Gretzky.
Or Edelman and Gronk are garbage players because Brady was the better Patriot.
McGregor never defended his titles? Cool. Climbed the ranks, won them, did more to make the sport money and popular than any other fighter in UFC history. One of the biggest reasons people think "UFC" PERIOD when talking MMA.
He won them. Defending them doesn't prove anything at that point. You climbed that mountain.
If anything, he's more of a hockey player than anonymous leaning fighters like Khabib. Better fighter? Sure. Ambitious? Not so much.
The best elevate their sport and succeed in it's confines. Hockey succeeds when large American markets (like Miami and Boston and NY) succeed.
Y'all talk about McDavid as the GOAT with the asterisk, the almost champion, the best at being excellent in games against nothing opponents. When, really, he's just a product of a modern era of better conditioned, faster players.
Meaning.. in ten years, it'll be someone else in his place, playing in an easily satiated Canadian market: we'll invest as long as it exists. There's no need to succeed when jerseys sell like hotcakes for the latest flavour.
His game lacks grit and defensive prowess, something that a sport like football almost exclusively DOESN'T require.
So if a player like Brady or Manning is really good, that's that. You're never going to hear "Brady wasn't a super mobile QB" because it's just people trying to validate their criticisms towards the most decorated player in league history 🤷

  11. When I was growing up I always thought hockey in the US was like part of the big 4 sports with football, baseball and basketball and then I checked out sports popularity in America and realized we were like 19th overall behind bowling or something. As much as we love our game in America we were still the little cousin trying to make the big team…I know we've grown and I think we are in the top 5 at this point. It's obvious that this list is flawed, there's no athlete from any sport that can do what McDavid does on two thin blades, no one. This guy does everything perfectly at 50 miles an hour…lol.

  12. Being the "worse" Williams sister still means you are greater than 99.9% of all women who have played tennis ever. She has 7 Grand Slam titles in Singles and a Gold Medal in Singles also. Not counting her Doubles records, she is still greater in her sport comparatively than Connor McDavid is in his.

  13. I looked at the whole list and outside the top 15 or so it's basically garbage. It would be more appropriately titled a ranking of what % of average americans know your name.
