Whatever the design is, people will hate it. And that will unify Calgarians.
As a non-architect, I wonder if it’s possible to build the core of the building as a ‘functional box’, but have an interesting exterior, somehow. So, don’t build…say…a roof design that can’t adequately hold the PA for a monster band, but maybe add stuff to the exterior that’s cool. A bazillion LEDs like the Sphere in Vegas, maybe. I dunno, just spitballing, here.

Why not just build a giant Trojan Horse, except inside is the arena, and also, it looks like Blasty. Just place the Saddledome right on top after.
