Tbh I don’t really consider Ryker a “prospect” anymore. Although if they considered him a prospect, crazy that a proven NHL ready defenseman gets left of this list.
A quick summary:
Looks like there’s a pretty strong bias toward this year’s draft picks at the top of this list. I get it. It’s harder to maintain high ratings when the rubber meets the road at the professional level.
He says Catton might stick at center “because you want him getting touches lower in the zone so that his skating can lead in transition.”
Also they’re talking about Wright as a 3rd line center who might peak on the 2nd line (ok, “in the top 6”) if he reaches his greatest potential. On the surface that’s true. He will start on the 3rd line this year. That still seems a little bearish on his ceiling.
He projects Rehkopf as a top 6 winger. He says he gets less credit than he deserves for his play off the puck. Very toolsy, just a matter of how it all comes together.
He calls Firkus “an opportunistic little water bug” and says he could well be a AAAA guy or a top 6 winger. We’ll see how he progresses.
And he was complimentary of Goyette. He wasn’t sure if he’s a center or winger at the pro level.
