“They have driving skills that make F1 drivers look like amateurs!”

Rally drivers are built different.

  1. F1 has turned into a circus not a sport! Always changing rules to suit the fat cats, wrc is a real sport with real skills..

  2. ひいごっどとぅざとっぷひいくっどのっとゲラゲラゲラ…意味がわからんな誰やねん全く意味がわからんな

  3. Couthard trying to indicate he has more balls than Mika with the comment he couldn't do the 14 k lol. Mika actually raced in Rally when he retired from F1. Couthard picked up a microphone. Guess that's the difference between an F1 champion and the second driver in a team like Couthard was.

  4. Love how he said "my team mate" when describing Hakinnen. Hey DC, we all know who is this "Mika" that you were talking abiht

  5. Isle of Mann TT puts both of these other two forms of motor car racing to Shane when it comes to sheer fear and brass nuts.

  6. Speak for yourself David! None of those drivers who drive road cars converted to rally cars are on the level of Fangio, Senna, Schumacher Alonso! Aurton and Fangio specially could do anything with any car.

  7. Fq plain no slippry road with over engineered cars and no bumps no ups and downs no falling fear no obstacle to do serious damage

Rally drivers: hopping cars ,drifting, between the trees in the mountains

  8. Just imagining what it must feel like to be going that fast through all of those turns and crests with trees so close to the car that you could reach out and touch them absolutely gives me chills. I have no earthly fucking idea what is in these people that makes them able to do what they do. But i love to watch them do it.

  9. Let's not forget Island of Man on 2 wheels in the rain… That makes rally drivers look like amateurs

  10. Soccer v tennis
    Messi v Federer
    Apples v Oranges
    What a stupid discussion
    Too total different sports

  11. f1 racing isnt even about driving as much as it id being able to physically handle the inside of the car its one of the worst rich douchebag things there are in the world when we give no attention to the best of the best and suck off the mediocre

  12. I have been saying this for years. A F1 driver(he shall remain nameless) drove WRC FOR ONE SEASON AND FELL FLAT ON HIS FACE!

  13. Ist a different style of driving. Rallye is a balancing act where every corner is different and the goal is to make as few mistakes as possible, but hardly any corner is hit at the very limit, mistakes are commonplace. You'd overshoot a little, drift too much, brake a little too early, have a too late or too early apex, etc. you gain or lose few tenths every corner.

Formula 1 is a high precision job where the corners repeat and the goal is to get as close to perfection as possible, while mistakes are rare and tiny, you gain or lose just a few hundreds or a tenth each corner.

But in the end both require insane skills on a level that mere mortals have a hard time to comprehend.

  14. He's being obliging, it's fan-service. It's two different sets of skills. The race craft alone of sprint racing is a skill unto itself in addition to the driving. Both, when done at the highest level, are incredible to watch. Rally has an air of spectacle, but that doesn't mean it's more difficult. It's just different.

And Formula 1 hasn't been a drivers sport for at least 15 years, so it's a poor example.

  15. I have to disagree
Cuz on nutural field lets say 24 le man or nascar or karting and so on
    F1 drivers always perform better

  16. I'm not saying rally drivers are not talented but it's just another discipline and the reason David and Mika got "scared" is because they weren't behind the wheel themselves.
I'm convinced if the top drivers in F1 atm would pick up rally driving they would be at the top level of that sport within a couple of months.
I mean Jos Verstappen picked it up and he's doing pretty well.
I know it's not the WRC and he also had some crashes but he also won some rounds in the BRC.
You can't tell me young cats like Max, Lando, Charles etc wouldn't pick it up super fast and be super quick too.

  17. But I’m sure if you had a rally driver as a passenger taking eau roug or 180r flat out whilst over taking they’d say the same thing,

  18. The truly are amazing. Your co driver is telling you what's coming up while you are driving what he said previously in the moment. They reconcile the two in real time. Simply epic.

  19. Imho motogp and wrc drivers are the gladiators of the 21th century. Motogp are a little bit more than wrc l, breaking bones on sunday and fixed with titanium. Racing next week. Wrc is more all or nothing/. Every tree can be their end.

  20. For people wanting a comparison. Check out the walter rohl vs m. Shumacher in the Ferrari 599 at the nurburgring story. Told by the great one himself.

  21. I’ve noticed when it comes to rally racing. It’s a balance between control and chaos. Find that perfect balance must be one sweet ride.

  22. Yeah nah. I love F1 and all other forms of motorsport. But nothing compares to being up a giant mountain, on the very edge of the cliff, with a heavy rainstorm, at night time, GOING 170 DAMN K/S around the bends. That's touching like 7 different phobia at once. No thank you.

  23. Where can I watch Rally though? I have F1tv, but I'd be interested to watch more rally events. I remember watching an indoor event with jumps and stuff and it was like rally Focus and Subarus.

  24. These guys couldn’t keep up with F1 drivers if they’re on the same track with F1 cars, and the F1 drivers can’t beat these guys that do rally racing. It’s like boxing and MMA. Both are similar and great sports, but they’ll beat the other in their own arena.
