That flipper knife she called a "spring assisted" knife is not illegal in CA. That's not a spring assisted knife according to CA law (and indeed it doesn't operate with a spring). It's a THUMB assisted/lever operated knife, a.k.a. a flipper knife. The knife laws are pretty lenient here. There is no length limit and you can open carry a sword or machete if you want. I routinely open carry the 6-7 inch blades I make. San Francisco and especially LA place additional restrictions that are indeed ridiculous, but most of the state is pretty reasonable with their knife laws. However, the gun laws, as you know, are retarded.
