Last season, the Devils lost three of their top four D-men: Damon Severson and Ryan Graves walked, and Dougie Hamilton got hurt about 20 games in. Goaltending was horrendous–Vitek Vanecek was especially terrible.
This season, the Devils added a real goalie (Markstrom), two bona fide defensemen (Pesce and Dillon) and made some minor upgrades to their forward group (Noesen and Tatar).

Gotta be at least a little frustrating to see the GM making those moves a season too late. Wonder if Donny G is watching the Sabres and thinking the same thing.

Seeing how the Devils weren’t a physical team last year, and neither were the Sabres, it feels like he’s trying to right a wrong.
IDK. To me it looks like Fitzgerald threw Ruff under the bus for his disaster of a roster and it seems like Ruff is being given plenty of say in how the roster in Buffalo is being built. If I am Ruff I know which situation I would find more appealing.
I don’t think he’s mad at all. He’s one of the few people who’d rather be here.
I think Lindy is looking forward to meeting the Devils with his Sabres this season and I’m looking forward to watching.

The Devils on paper should be better than two years ago, so it’ll be a testament to Ruff if they do not meet their expectations.

The sabres really haven’t improved all that much though at least on paper. They’ve added a bunch of bottom 6 forwards. They obviously feel thats what they needed and maybe it works but idk
He’s probably not too concerned with it but I’d still like to see the Sabres with something like a 5 or 6 goal lead on the Devils in the second period and Lindy behind the bench like Kylo Ren just yelling “MORE!”.
