Now that we're past the draft and free agency it's time for the yearly /r/DetroitRedWings prospect ranking thread! As for how you vote it's completely up to you: some may weigh ceiling or upside the highest, others may weigh NHL readiness higher – there's no wrong answer on how to vote.
A new poll will be posted every 2-3 days depending on how close the voting is until we finish the top 15 prospects. I'll include 10~ prospects every poll and will add one new prospect after each poll so discuss in the comments and whoever is mentioned most will be added next.
Check out the subreddit's previous rankings here (starting from 2018!): LINK HERE
NOTES:
– Prospect criteria will be defined using the NHL Guidelines.
– After last season's rankings there was a poll to determine whether or not to display poll results. Continuing to hide the results between polls received the most votes.
#1. Nate Danielson (C – 2023 #9) – 61% of 731 votes [Results]

It gets kinda tough already lol. Usually in years past is was pretty easy for the first 3-5 polls. I went Cossa here, but I could hear a legit argument for Kasper or ASP. I try to approach this from a “who would be most valuable in trade” perspective.
Gotta be ASP, I did MBN by mistake but he’s my third
Axel. Sandin .-. Pellikka.
I think Cossa deserves it after the season he had. Seeing a goalie that large and that athletic develop at his trajectory is so exciting. I’m hopeful we get to see him for a few games at some point this year.
ASP is good too, but I thought his production was a bit one dimensional this year in a powerplay role, and as an undersized defenseman he has a lot to work on defensively. He could explode this year in the SHL though, which would be really fun to see.
Sandy Pelican for me here but after this it gets tough
I hate but also like how difficult this decision is already
It’s a toss up between ASP, Cossa and Kasper
Kasper has the 200 foot game and finally flashed some strong playmaking and offense in the AHL playoffs when the pressure is high
Cossa out played Wallstedt in the AHL this year, and had similar stats to Askarov (Askarov 2.39 GAA and .911sv% in 44 games vs Cossa 2.41 GAA and .913sv% in 40) he’s one of the best goalie prospects in the league
ASP is just a stud right shot offensive Dman, he’s able to take over games as a teenager in the SHL, kid is on a track to being an integral part of our blue line
All that said… I think it’s Cossa he’s shown this year that’s he is in that top 3 goalie prospect conversation, the mix of size and athleticism is something you can’t teach and his numbers over 40 games say he’s on a path to becoming our long term number 1
I think its MBN. He’s the last forward in our prospect pool with real top 6 offensive upside. ASP is close as a D, but I think he’s less of a sure thing to make the NHL with his deficiencies.
Kasper. I think he’s going to be a lot better than people realize. Just a very, very noticeable player on the ice. He’ll be a fan favorite in no time. A bit like if Compher retained his current skill level, but also was a power forward type player, and then faster, too.
I’m going Cossa. Pellikka and Kasper are close, but I need to see more of them. Cossa looks like a stud right now.
If we go by nhl readiness its kasper
Highest ceiling is probably cossa then ASP then kasper
ASP seems like the obvious answer, and what I voted for, but my heart is in Augustine. He just looks like more of a legit future NHLer than anyone else in the organization.
Today I vote ASP. He is on an Erik Karlsson trajectory atm. Cossa is great but goalies are voodoo, Kasper and MBN havent shown enough yet, no one else has a ceiling worth discussing yet
This is a tough choice but looking at the teams that make it far in the playoffs, most of them have an elite level goalie. If the wings want to win a cup they need to Cossa/Augustine to pan out
Trey Augustine
Would have said Danielson here, but will once again vote for ASP, who has the highest upside of any of our prospects.
Should be Danielson but i guess ASP
Wow did not expect Nate Danielson. I know nothing about him, why does he warrant no 1 ahead of guys like Cossa, ASP and Kasper?
