In this video, I go over the Toronto Maple Leafs acquiring the Signing rights to chris tanev and use advanced stats and contexual information to break it all down. Plus I discuss the possibility of them signing him for 6 years and go over his injury history

Ya, lets get older, slower……sign long term deals to injured, ageing players….perfect, just like in Calgary….this GM – old school, archaic thinking……what a mess….wow.
The Leafs giving another stupid contract. When will they ever learn. The Leafs management were losers before, always signing players to deal for to much money nmc, etc. They gave those contracts and got nowhere in the playoffs. Let’s go in a different direction to make us better and everyone in management said we going to be different , we are going change the way we think etc. Now we see no , the way things are going unless everything changes in the summer, we are not as good as last year. Maybe not making playoffs. Look. At the rest of the Atlantic teams are doing, even metro teams , all doing good moves making there teams better.
Eh everyone else does that I wouldn’t be against it .. I also wonder if the leafs instead of getting into a bidding war should they look at Matt Murray for goalie situation
I don’t trust Kevin weekes at all. Eliot said it’d be around 4 mill which makes sense if it goes 5-6 years.
6 yrs, and the last 5 on LTIR😂🤣 . In his “Whole” career he’s only had “One” where he played a full season. Let that sink in.
We'll like Chris tanev for years 1 and 2. We'll hate chris tanev and his contact years 3 and beyond.
They have to. Tampa and Nashville were in the mix and with both states having no state taxes, the 6 years (money wise) balances out the contract compared to those other two cities.
So more and more the Leafs are having to add years ontocontracts because of the horrible tax rate here in canada. its like 54%. Where as if you go sign in like Dallas , Nashville, Tampa, florida. that tax is wayyyyyy down. allowing themtogive him less years with the same dollar amount to get to the same net overall money total.
The deal's starting to loose it's shine if 5m/per is the end result of us lowering the cap hit with term.
Such an awful signing for a player of Tanev's age. Typical Leafs signing though, so it doesn't surprise me. Hopefully there is an opt out clause in the deal where both parties can go their own ways after a few years.
So to finally get a top 4 right hand defense it will cost a contract that will most likely go downhill 1 year into the 6 year deal, wow just wow.
The Leafs should be re-building not signing more players to the Titanic!! They are RUNNING IT BACK BABY!!!
Tanev will be broken down in 2.
Very bad signing. 35 years this year. Probably 2 years left and then LTIR
I'm glad the leafs content is coming back more now. I missed the leafs analysis
Tanev will only be good for 4 out of the 6 yrs if the last 2 yrs isn't good they can buy him out.
Leafs: Tanev, Domi, Murray, OLE, Stoleraz, Liligren.
What happened to Edmundson, Samsonov, Brodie and Klingberg????
he back
Injuries scare me. Friend of mine Olympic class amateur injured and never recovered. Leafs broke and playing long shots?
In your opinion, what injuries cannot be recovered from?
You do a great job!
I liked Boosh, but he had almost no offence. Dallas signed him at a 3.25M aav while Tree inked OEL (mind you for 2 more yrs) at 3.5M aav. No question, for an extra 250K OEL is a vastly superior D-man. He can play both sides & he was really good in Florida, ultimately replacing Montour on the PP. He was also very good on the PK. With Tanev & Hakanpää, Toronto's D is now much improved. Welcome back DTSB. Appreciate the calm, measured content from a Leaf supporter.
