I know things seem a bit grim right now, but I think our future outlook is really great. Verhaeghe is a placeholder as I don’t expect him to make it to free agency but the dollar amount seems about right for a bigtime player. We have a bunch of cap space left over that can be used to fill holes in 1 or more of the following places: goalie, 2C, bottom 6, maybe go crazy and run at Drai or Rantanen instead of Verhaeghe… I view the KK buyout as the emergency button and I doubt it will happen before next summer (if it does).

we’ve also got depth and an AHL team now, so if/when we need to replace an injury it wont be with a guy who hasn’t played hockey in our system for 6+ months.

Our pipeline is easily top 3 right now. When Nikishin comes in that might rock the whole league. The doom is overhyped. We just need a lights out goal tender IMO. Been saying that for a decade though haha.

People heavily overreacted to FA this year but didn’t see the big picture long term, we’re just going to have 1 year of a step back but the following season with Nikishin and the other rookies is going to be so fun
