Every year I try to watch as many playoffs games I can nomater what team is playing and it is crystal clear that the Leafs have way too many players who have below average battle levels in the very physical playoffs.
I can't ever remember watching any team win the Stanley Cup with such a pathetic battle level like the Leafs have.
While I do agree leafs need some size and defensive grit in the back they also need some puck moving offensive D. Reilly isnt it he shows signs of it and I like him as a player but they need players to get the forwards the puck. Signing a bunch of big guys who cant produce will be useless
Leafs fans keep saying trade Marner. I'd rather they buyout Tavares, he's the plug and the player who never lived up to his contract. Also Brodie and Giordano can both sign for league minimum.

Just not sure if Zadorov is legit full time top 4,. Wish he would lower his rumoured ask a little bit. More likely a bidding war. Leafs need another D man who can move the puck, and also work the PP. I like Sean Walker, but that could be a pipe dream. It's like that old Rolling Stones song "You can't always get what you want". But if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need.
Also if they also get Zadorov. Between McCabe Tanev Zadorov and Benoit, There's going to be a lot of long nights for the Opposition. Lol

I know this is about defense, but if they sign both T and Z, no way will both Bertuzzi and Domi be back, maybe neither one. And oh yes , Marner will not be traded but signed long-term at some point during the season.
I like to see zadorov sign with leafs. He is a good option. Larson would be an added bonus
I would keep the goaltending as is and let go of Samsonov. Needs to improve on d and add guys who have some playoff experiance
so i dont think they mean both Oel and zadorov my guess is Oel is the backup plan to zadorov
To me if you cant sign Zadorov for anything less then 4.5you have to move on. thats an overpayment. i want them to target sean walker if zadorov is over 4.5M. a top 4 of Reilly Tanev, Mccabe walker then benoit and whoever else… to me thats a winnng blueline

Thanks Andrew, yet another great informative video. Incidentally now that we are in trade season, can I draw your attention to the Real Kyper and Bourne show this past Friday, hear out what Doug MacLean had to say about Mitch Marner from 19:31 to 22:19 I think its the smartest most sensible comment I have listened to on the matter, unlike other pod casts on YouTube that sound like cancel culture folks with no sensibility. Love to know what you think.

Nah, Leafs need another guy that can move the puck a bit. We've had issues with transitioning the puck to our forwards the last two years. Klingberg was a bad signing. But the intention behind it was correct. That need still exists, hence the interest in OEL. 👻🐻 Would be interesting to look at as well if you can get him at a cheap cap hit

Morgan Reilly as your “offensive” guy? Wow.. with all due respect Andrew. For what he gets paid , he’s provided close to zero offense and absolute shit D. I would swap this guy out any day. Unfortunate we I’ll be keeping him, and 37.. the old leafs all over again. I’m hoping Tanev doesn’t become our Tavares on the blue line, and does have a good 3 years in him
