For months now I have talked about how Brady Tkachuk of the Ottawa Senators would be an amazing addition to the New Jersey Devils roster. I have talked about how magical I think he would be for the franchise.
There have been countless rumors and speculations about where he may end up, while Ottawa Senators General Manager Steve Staios adamantly denied it all.
I have been thinking the past day or so…
How did NJ Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald fail to bring in a Top 6 forward during the NHL Draft or NHL Free Agency?
I have started to analyze everything and I have come up with a verrrryyyyy interesting theory.
I may be delusional, but I may not be!

Honestly I’d give up Jack for Brady. Jack is our Huberdeau. Shoot me. After watching the playoffs it just reinforces my belief is that Jack wouldn’t get past 2 rounds if that. The physicality is just ridiculous. Can Jack even make it through the regular season without a big injury? Devil fans – you can’t win a championship when your best player is 5’10” 167. Shasha Barkov is 6’3” 220. Brady as a Devil? Better than getting Kovy.
Palat would never waive to go to Ottowa, unless Fitz has a backup plan to get the 8.3 mil cap space you would need, Palat can kill this deal in 2 seconds.
Edit: Getting Kovy back in the day was tremendous. Getting Brady in the Red and Black would be even more tremendous. (Plus zero chance Brady would quit the team and head back home. Hahahahaha. In this case Arizona?)
I’m thinking something like this is the only reason that makes this Tatar deal make sense. If Palat, Mercer, etc. are going to be moved out to make room for (hopefully) Brady.
It would cost Mercer, and Bratt to acquire Tkachuk. Ottawa losing Brady, would be the equivalent of losing Hughes. Ottawa hasn't made the postseason in 7 years, they do not want to be in a forever rebuild. The Sens have elite talent around Tkachuk like Stutzle, and Sanderson. Also remember, Brady signed with Ottawa for 8 years. Unlike Matthew, who signed a 2 year bridge deal with Calgary.

The Devils Ticket sales called me to brag and ask me what I thought. I said team has improved and waiting on top winger. Although everyone can be an armchair critic, there's always things going on not yet reported. Brady has been practicing in Red Bank and it's not completely out of the picture.

I like the thought process, but Ottawa isn't making that trade for the package you offered. Not enough offense coming back to replace bradys production. I think we keep Mercer and sub Bratt in there would work for Ottawa. They get a 30 goal scorer back and a future all star d man. Good for both teams, maybe throw Seiganthaler in there too. Palat isn't going to Ottawa, and he has little value on that team. Lets keep hope alive, until Tommy crushes it completely tmrw morning at 10:30😂

I would not trade Nemec for Brady. A budget version of winger for Hughes that would be a better use of prospects could be Laine
We also have Seamus Casey signed to an ELC who could possibly replace Nemec
However, I still don't think the trade is worth it. Mercer-Palat-Nemec provide more value to our team than B. Tkachuk would by himself. Jack has been able to produce with many different players, I don't doubt his capability

I hope your theory pans out, as it would be great to see Brady in NJ. (I am excited Tatar is back, and think/hope he picks up some of the slack when we need some goals when top guys may have an off night.) I don’t believe Fitz is done either, as I think he would announce that more clearly. (Unless I missed it.) We don’t know conversations behind closed doors that may have happened, or may be happening.
