The Sharks made the unsurprising decision to select Macklin Celebrini No. 1 overall in the 2024 NHL Draft on Friday night in Las Vegas.
Ten picks later, San Jose selected standout defenseman Sam Dickinson with the No. 11 overall pick.
But Day 2 of the draft Saturday might be a little less predictable. The Sharks have seven scheduled selections in rounds two through seven. Here’s a tracker of every pick:
Second round (No. 33): Igor Chernyshov, LW, Dynamo Moscow (KHL)
Second round (No. 53): Leo Sahlin Wallenius, D, Vaxjo Jr. (Sweden)
Third round (No. 82): Carson Wetsch, RW, Calgary (WHL)
Fourth round (No. 116): Christian Kirsch, G, Zug Jr. (Switzerland)
Fifth round (No. 131): Colton Roberts, D, Vancouver (WHL)
Fifth round (No. 143): Nate Misskey, D, Victoria (WHL)
Seventh round (No. 194): Yaroslav Korostelyov, G, SKA St. Petersburg Jr. (Russia)

Celebrini and Dickinson were awesome picks ππΌ. Lookin' forward to seein' them in Sharks unis π¦.
Very happy about how the draft panned out. Excited to see what the team and future core looks like in a few years. Thank you for the awesome Sharks content. π¦
sahlin wallenius has a shot of turning into the next roman josi copy success story from the 2nd round, great pick.
Will be at the TANK opening nightπππ
Iβm excited for the Sharks rebuild as wellβ¦ and this is coming from a Pens fan! Looks like you had a great time in Vegas!
I think this may end up the greatest draft in Sharks history. I hope so. Crossing my fingers π€
Dickinson has a little bit of a Burns vibe personality wise
Chester Cheetah gonna have filthy mitts next year π
What about Utah's first rounder ? π’
Gotta be honest, as someone who had Sam as 6th of the available defenseman of the top 6 Dmen. Iβm so happy with the pick. I always saw Sam as the safe pick along with lev and Anton. You just get a great base defenseman.
However, I always saw Sam as likley going to be the 3rd best D man over time. Like Miro from Dallas. Not the most flashy. But almost a for sure thing top 4 with very good upside.
I personally missed on merkley. I thought at time low was a top 6, pp specialist. I would have taken higher than we did. Sam a top Dman with such great bottom potential, puts me more at ease. Take the for sure thing when itβs there. Take the shots for crazy offense after. Way i see it, we probably got our next vlassic 2.0. Now work on the spot of erhoff, Blake, campbell, Boyle, burns, karl. Best offensive D man you can. (Man 2 phones Doug was a great trader).
I have faith Grier can draft someone in the ilk, with what Iβve seen. His drafting has been impressive for someone with no current players on roster heβs drafted. Yet most are excited, draft experts put sharks in top 3 of prospect pools. In 3 years. I have faith in his forward drafting like crazy. With Luca, Gannon before injury, pulkamp, Dickinson, Leo S W. I feel good that Grier had a good understanding of Dmen of different styles.
Awesome work, Brodie. Unfortunately, I can't watch the full interviews on the website because I'm from Australia. Keep up the great work from a Sharks fan down under.
Great coverage Brodie!
Hey Brodie, great work on the draft coverage, exciting times. I won't say her name here (due to privacy reasons) but please give my best to your wife, as we were friends in high school. Hope your family is well, and looking forward to watching you continue to cover our beloved Sharks!
Brody youβre a game changer in the media space, keep doing what you do, Iβm always impressed by the quality of your coverage
Grier was much more honest with you about Sam than in his press conference. Speaks volumes about how great of an interviewer you are!
