I keep thinking of Hutson and Demidov playing together 🤯
Great to see Demidov land in Montreal. Hope he lights it up for you guys for the next decade. I'm a Hawks fan who has been to games in Montreal and am glad he didn't wind up in say.. Columbus.
HuGo are pulling off some Sam Pollock level sh!t. They are spreading falsehoods to get their way.
You guys are the best. I could listen to you both talk hockey, all day, every day. Cheers!
so next year the habs with their first number pick will pick a player that ther mother smoked coke on a an ass of a wanna be habs player prospect and these clowns will just rejoyce. and that will be there touching story, what a bunch of idiots.,
You guys need real microphones. Great content, BRUTAL audio.
Imagine Sam Pollock drafting to please the fan base. Crazy, the modern management team should care as much as Pollock would. Draft your own vision and let the fans decide when you're ready. Great picks on day one and it's a bonus every armchair GM is happy.
Wow what a random stray against the Blues by Godin. Could’ve said Utah, Seattle, Vegas, Columbus, Nashville, Florida, Minnesota, but no choose a team from 1967 with decades of history and amazing talent that’s come through. Very disrespectful.
And don’t look now, but the Blues have been quietly putting together a very solid prospect pool. Then again with the comment, maybe you should keep doubting.
The only thing the NHL does right ie: the draft they want to get rid of 😂
Who would you rank #1 #2 #3 when compared at their draft year:
Suzuki ?
Dach ?
Hage ?
Juraj's big improvement towards the end of last season has increased confidence in HuGo's scouting staff. They've benefitted from much higher draft picks than the past management team but still had to make a touch decision for their 1st overall when there wasn't a generational talent and/or consensus number one pick. They also made a splash getting Dach who looked poised to breakout before the terrible and unfortunate injury. Their top picks in the past three years give hope that they'll all become not just quality NHLers but top line/pairing potential. The only one whom doesn't seem to be so great of a pick is Mesar so far (although Beck and Hutson drafted afterwards potentially makes up for it). The is the second year in a row the habs have traded all their second round picks. They got Newhook last year whom has shown some good things. This year, Hage seems promising at least and it was a good move to use their abundance of draft picks to move up a bit. Interestingly they've also picked into previous bloodlines in the 3rd round with Xhekaj's brother last year and now linking up farther back in time with Saku Koivu's son. I don't expect much from Aatos but it was a nice pick for nostalgia's sake that at least wasn't a reach. If he becomes a 3rd liner I'd consider that a pleasant surprise. This draft year was "fan service" compared to the past two draft years of "controversial" first round picks. Slafkovsky, Reinbacher, Demidov definitely look like very promising additions to a solid foundation of Suzuki, Caufield, Guhle from previous management.
Another takeaway from the draft was the fantastic interviews with Bobrov! This guy is a natural with the press, a very calm, eloquent and lucid speaker. The fanbase doesn't get to see much of him like you guys do, more Bob please! 😉
No thoughts on free agency? Or does the Demi and Hage picks change their plans?
Great show as always guys!
Thank you San Jose, thank you Chicago, thank you Anaheim, thank you Columbus. We just got a generational player at #5! What a steal!
Did you all notice that Michael Hage was awarded Thursday the EJ McGuire award, as presented by NHL central scouting. Awarded to “the candidate who exemplifies commitment to excellence through strength of character, competitiveness, and athleticism. Last two awardees? Connor Bedard and Lane Hutson!
Dr. Kent Hughes Plan revealed? 🧠🎉🤪
The Hage backstory is just amazing
Honestly shocked that the Habs were able to manipulate so many teams into balking at drafting Demidov. If he pans out like people are projecting, it might be one of their best moves.
Physique 🤔😅
I hope one day we look back and argue if Slaf+Hutson or Demidov+Hage was the better draft year.
This pick will define Hugues and Gorton time in Montréal .
How come nobody hugs the commissioner like the NBA and NFL players do? 🤔
Do you think that they will compensate SKA so Demidov can come to Montreal right away?
With all the D and goaltending currently in the system have to ask why did they draft two more D and goaltender?
Because KHL teams have to have two U20 players, I think it’s likely he plays KHL this year.
While the Hage story is inspiring and fascinating, I hope fans and media release him from the topic soon. It might be an “amazing” story to outsiders, but this is anything but for Hage and his family. It’s literally the worst moment of the kid’s life, and a worse moment than most people ever experience. He doesn’t need to be reminded of it forever.
