Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale. With my expertise and experience, let me tell you all how tomorrow unfolds for most… tell me if I miss anything.
We leave the house around 8:30. Traffic comes to a stand still as soon as we hit federal highway. We are then stuck in traffic trying to get to somewhere close enough to park to then walk the rest. Once we park it will be 10am if we’re lucky. Then we walk for 2-4 miles, over a giant bridge (las olas, 17th, or sunrise, take your pick), in the hot sun just to get to the beach.
The beach will be a shit show and we will have no where to sit, no shade, huge lines for water, food, bathrooms, or anything else. We stand for hours in the sun watching adults get drunk around our kids, possibly a fight or two along with the reliably ghetto women twerking being promiscuous in tiny bathing suits while they scream.
You try to check out the “vendors” and realize the Florida panthers don’t employ a graphic designer for any of their merch. It is all just fonts with a panthers logo slapped on top. You won’t find any actual graphics on any of the merch. ”Stanley Cup Champions” in the same block letters they have been using for 5 years and a panthers shield slapped on top is all you see. The kid sweating in the merch trailer tells you the t-shirt will be $60 please. Or you can buy a scarf with the same block letters (this is Florida mind you) for $55.
After a few hours some fire trucks go by and we get a glimpse of one or two hockey players, but we see dozens of the hockey players family members filling up the fire trucks so we really don’t know who is who. Your kids complain they can’t see anything. Yay parade.
Afterwards, we fight the crowds to try to go home and walk another 4 miles back to the car, mind you we’ve put on another 5 miles just walking back and forth throughout the day. We get back to the car then I get to sit in the same traffic for another hour trying to get home. We don’t get a single good meal the entire day, we’re all stressed and sunburnt.
Could have been on federal highway, could have been on Broward Blvd, could have been at markaham, could have been on the intercoastal, but nooooooo.

It’s going to be a shit show to say the least
Can anyone confirm whether or not the Cup will be present? If I can get a glimpse of it as it passes by with my own eyes under the South Florida sun, it will be worth the misery before and after.
The memory of the Larry O’Brien trophy shining under the sun on Biscayne Blvd makes me want to experience that feeling with Lord Stanley’s cup on A1A 😭😭😭

Not gonna lie, a boat parade down the intracoastal, culminating in a party/stage in Bayfront park (maybe slightly too far south) would have been pretty dope
All I can’t say don’t buy merch at the parade. You can do that before or after parade. You know stanley cup merch will be available for some time definitely through out the summer. Go to ftl memorial to shop or arena store when it is open.
My brother is at a hotel within eyesight of the stage and I’m stuck in fucking Louisiana
I’m going as prepared as possible, lots of water, cooler backpack and some snacks. Requested an Uber a head of time to pick me up early and dump me near Bo’s on the beach. I have no expectations on what I’ll see or what’s going to happen. I think if people have any common sense , tomorrow’s event is a good time to use it, leave the children at home and be prepared for an absolute shit show with no easy way out of there.
How early do you think I’d have to get to La Playa or Lulus to get a good view of the stage/parade respectively?
I should probably just leave the house now right?

If you think the parade is going to be a hassle, then don’t go. It’s that simple. Nobody is forcing you to go.
Pens fan here! First off: CONGRATULATIONS!! I was pulling for a first time winner and got one! Good job offing the Rags.
Second: having seen a few of these, and since it’s being discussed, the CUP will certainly be there! Players ride in trucks/convertibles and often just getbout and walk along high-fiving. They ALSO usually bring the Cup around to show it to folks closely; it might not just drive past, it can get really close to the fans along the route!
It’s totally worth it, it’s so incredibly beautiful to see in person!!

I don’t wanna be a downer but they really did choose the worst spot for this. Shoulda been near sawgrass mall and the arena where there’s plenty of parking and space to stand. You have the mall right there to get out of the sun if need be & the rally should be in front of the arena. Anyone who’s thinking of leaving their house at 8 or later, that’s already too late. If you’re not in the area and parked by 6 am, good luck. Any parking zone that isn’t the Las Olas garage, it’s an hour walk only to stand there in the sun for 6-7 hours. The parade “route” is 9 blocks. The parade starts at 11 and the rally at 1 pm. It’s gonna take them two hours to travel 9 blocks? They really did plan this poorly. Kudos and more power to those that are willing to wait and stand in the rain and sun. I will happily watch the parade from the comfort of my couch with food & water at arms reach and air conditioning. See ya at the home opener!

Okay so can someone tell me honestly…is leaving at 7, 730 really necessary? I was thinking about leaving at 9am and just taking an uber to one of the garages. I’m considering just setting up on the beach near the rally and hoping for the best. Am I foolishly optimistic?

There will likely only be about 50 people there who know what’s going on. The rest will be random people showing to see what’s going on.
