More: Hayes has been traded to Pittsburgh Penguins

Any idea what return we’re getting? We retaining anything? Hayes wasn’t terrible, but I’m sure we could use some cap space.

  3. carpedonnelly

JR and Strickland both confirming. No return details yet

  4. Groundedge

honestly i know he was a good locker room guy but dude had bricks for skates

Hayes’ production was okay. But he was pretty lethargic and uneventful on the ice.

I dont think many tickets were going to be sold to watch him play in stl. Regardless of the return I’m okay with shifting that money into someone new

Even if it’s for a bag of pucks that’s okay? I thought we’d have to retain salary to even get rid of him, which we possibly did?

Army for the win! Maybe he got Krug added to the deal

I echo the sentiments of many… seems like a great guy, but he was not panning out in St. Louis

I think Texier made Hayes expendable. Third line center position just got younger, cheaper, and better.

  10. Future considerations and our own second next year.

Just announced traded Hayes and ’25 second round for future considerations. Salary dump plus makes room for Texier and our up and coming prospects.

    Salary dump, I love it.

Hopefully your 2nd round pick next year is closer to the end than this year, and you clear the space without using a buyout

Giving up a second seems like a lot but idk

Excellent Army! It was a nice change of scenery gamble, but even at 1/2 his 6 mill salary it just wasn’t working.

  15. carpedonnelly

According to Lou Korac, Blues now have 16 mil in cap space.

    Makes July 1st really interesting

Looks like we also gave a 2025 2nd rounder in exchange for future considerations

  17. gabriel197600

Awe man…it took a second round pic to make it happen:-(

  18. bob999999117

I think Army is making room, but my question is for who?

  19. brownnotbraun

Second round pick seems like a lot considering we weren’t paying that much of his salary

  20. dixie12oz

Seems like part of a bigger move. At least I hope so.

I feel like the blues have their eyes on a FA. Seems odd to give up a second for a cap dump unless you plan on doing something with the cap.

You think “future considerations” could ever turn into a teams 1OA? What are the guidelines behind that anyways?

  23. bleedblue89

We got a younger piece to replace him and salary
