Picks 26, 57 and 198 for 21 – could be a precursor for continuing to trade up?
I could also see it as just putting themselves in a better position to barter as we see who goes where in the draft. Really excited for this one, should be fun.
Prospect pool is more than deep enough, I’m all for some swings on condensing quantity into quality.

That’s the 21st overall FYI

Love this deal, now the question is do we keep moving up??

Seems steep to move up just 5 spots, wonder if there’s another move coming

New York got the 61st pick for moving down from 18 to 20 and 50 to 54 (which is pretty negligible) so this seems to be pretty good value for the Habs.

If the price to pay to move up 5 spots is Letourneau or Justin Poirier, then I think it’s not worth it.
HonestDespot
Wow surprised they gave up their only 2nd round pick and that Jets pick to move up just 5 picks.
Wonder if they package those 2 3rd rounders for a 2nd?
Or maybe there’s a Harris or Kojakevic or Barron deal happening today?

One name comes to mind with this trade: Cole Eiserman We know the Habs took him for dinner and he has ties to Kent Hughes. There’s also been rumors of him potentially slipping outside the top 15 so I wouldn’t be surprised if Kent has another move lined up to move up to 17-18 and snag him. Probably a 2nd next year with the 21st gets it done now

If the Ducks are set on a D (Buium or Silayev), I’d be tempted to send them 5+21 to scoop Demidov or Lindstrom off the Jackets board.
5+26 was probably not enough, but 5+21 might be tempting for them…
thebriss22
Maybe its to package along in a trade with a roster player for a trade like Dach or Newhook…. or its because we really dont wanna miss on a player in the late first round.
ApokatastasisPanton
Could they be targeting Colombus pick? (as in, trying to get both 4 _and_ 5)

GREAT NOW MAKE IT A 15TH, 16TH OR A 17TH

Could open a trade where me move 21+a young defensemen to get closer to 15.

I like it. We have too many picks and too many players.

Sacha boisvert or yegor surin could be available at 21👀

Sounds good, we are at a spot where we do have a pipeline and lot of picks, might as well move up and get more quality or use a higher pick for ammo in a deal.
I wonder if they think Cole Eiserman is going to fall?

i could see them flipping this pick w a prospect to try to move up even further, or maybe packaging it for a player

Assuming they’re keeping the pick for a player they think might be available at 21, I would be happy with Liam Greentree or Trevor Connelly if they’re available.
* 1st round pick is WPG’s from the Monahan trade * 2nd round pick is COL’s from the Lehkonen trade. Habs have no 2nd rounder now * 7th rounder was MTL’s own pick. Habs still have 2 more 7th rounders from EDM (Kulak’s trade) and WSH (Edmundson trade)
All in all it’s basically #26 + #57 to move 5 spots in the 1st round.
Either #21 is for someone the Habs target in the 20-25 range or it was necessary to complete another trade (like Habs had to move Romanov for #13 to get Dach).

Interesting! A couple of Greentree, Chernyshov, Hage, Connolly (I know, I know) would probably be available at 21 and not 26 so this is an important move up in value, even if it’s just to package for something else

Don’t stop moving baby, this kinda action drives me crazy

[The Perri Pick Value Calculator comes up with 17.87 for LA vs 17.78 for MTL](https://i.imgur.com/JsRJPzP.png). Very fair.
