You are literally one game away from winning the Stanley Cup, so you fire the GM and take over as GM so you can reap all the glory if they win next year. Now THAT’S a power move.
Holland out as GM the day before the entry draft and a few days before free agency, with 11 UFAs, is playing with fire if they don't have a solid plan they can execute before July 1st. On the one hand they can't have Holland making moves at a critical time if he's on the way out, but at the same time this kind of flux in the head office could mess their team up for next season with this many UFAs and so little cap space and time to get things done.
