Honestly not much. Someone taking the full contract would be nice. So I’m assuming the team acquiring him would want to offload a contract back but maybe for only a year or two

If he goes, it’ll be a mutual decision. Gibson wants to sniff the playoffs and Dostal wants to be the number 1 tendy.

He won’t get much, good goalies get a 1st, we’ll probably get a 2nd and have to retain a little.

After the Ulmark trade I don’t think we get much in return

Wow huge if true! Yawn 🥱

Should have traded him 2 or more years ago when it was obvious the rebuild would take a long time

We just saw from the sharks/wings trade that eating a $3.4 million contract for 2 years is worth a 2nd round pick. That means retaining 50% (3.2M) of Gibson’s salary for 3 years is worth about a 2nd. Add value on top because Philly actually wants the player. Future first if we retain any salary at all.
Remember that 3 years retained means 3 years with 1 fewer retained slot of the possible 3. If a team is out of contention and.under the cap, each of those open slots for retaining salary is worth a 3rd or 4th each year at the deadline just to be third party eating 25% of a trade between other teams. Worth slightly more if you actually eat the bad contract for another team.
So retaining even $0.01 on Gibson costs us the equivalent of at least 3 4th round picks. Make them pay up front for.those lost slots!

I heard a rumor from multiple sources Carlsson has been talked about amongst some teams.
Could be in play for a massive deal.

Not super fussed with the return but I’d want a veteran netminder in the system to split time with Dostal.
Tbh I think if we can get out from his contract without having to retain salary or add additional assets we’re probably doing ok. After his past 5 seasons he’s a pure cap dump
