DON SWEENEY MASTERCLASS!!! ANALYZING THE BOSTON BRUINS TRADING LINUS ULLMARK TO THE OTTAWA SENATORS!

what is up brunes fan welcome back to b& Productions and today you guessed it we’re going to be talking about the most recent trade that happened between the Boston Bruins and the Ottawa Senators and this includes former vzna gender with L lenus allmark who has been traded to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Jonas Corpus Salo Mark Castell and a 2024 first round pick which is the 25th overall pick in this year’s draft now let’s talk about it cuz I know a lot of you are extremely upset and I’m going to start it here with a little bit of an overview of what happened over the course of today because I think timelines are very important first Brandon busy goenda looking to be sort of that backup Ro to San was signed to a league minimum deal two-way deal great you know awesome you get a goenda right where you have the backup signed you’re going to sway you’re going to sign swayman everything is perfect and then all of a sudden rumors start coming out T 7:00 7:30 Twitter is going crazy because allmark is has been traded Freedom reports I think 745 750 was uh everybody saying this deal isn’t going to be good you know the return is really poor and then the deal comes out at 7:55 also known as 5 minutes before for game seven of the Stanley Cup final which is why this video is actually going to be coming out tomorrow morning instead of tonight cuz I need some time to think this one through think about the game that just happened and why you know McDavid got the K Smite and whatever right lots happening tonight but let’s think about this for a second right Sam did a great job breaking it down on our live stream link can be found in the description below but I’m sure a lot of you are wondering do you actually think this is a good deal and yes yes I do yes I do I am willing to put myself out there and say I believe that this is a good deal on one One Singular condition just one that you actually go out and get someone in free agency this whole move was designed to free up some cap space fix your goal tending basically replenish what you’re losing at a cheaper cost and you make room for the future you have a first round draft pick are you going to trade it are you going to use it time will tell there I think that there is a potential that I don’t think a lot of Bruins fans have realized yet but there is a potential for the Bruins to say you know what we’re just going to trade this pick at the draft not a lot of people are thinking that but they could just in theory just trade this pick at the draft to a team that wants a player we had a full breakdown of all the players that could be picked at spot 25 we’ll link that down in the description below as well you know we talked about the allmark trades a couple weeks ago say very similar deal except you instead of Corpus Salo shikan so you know you get the defender instead of the goal tender but this way you get both you know you think about it you get a tandem going again right you get swayan and and you you’re going to get retained salary with corporo he’ll be around 3 million right 3 million three-year deal as a backup golender who really is a solid 1B I don’t know I think it’s worth it personally you get you give able the ability for swing and to take some rest days so you’re not overusing them think of a guy like heluk in in Winnipeg where when this when the playoffs come around he’s been he’s an absolute Civ because he’s been playing way too many games so I leave that with you let’s just think let’s pause for a second because I I saw the comments I read every comment on that live stream and I will respond to them after but and I will respond to every comment on this video as well but I will ask you guys this just reflect for a second take a deep breath you know think this one through are you really upset with getting the first round pick that was supposed to be all Mark’s value par value right are you upset with getting the backup goenda starter you just has to find some consistency and what better spot to do that than in Boston and you know you get a prospect who’s a big bulky dude that could probably run some guys over that we all seem to love here so I’m just saying take a deep breath now let’s take a look at what sort of the contracts look like we’ll pull up the mock trade graphic or not the mock trade anymore I guess the actual trade but the truth is here look lonus allmar goes to the Ottawa Senators they get their goalie great does that mean he’s going to resign no does that mean lonus ommer could or lenus mer could be coming back to Boston yes but does that mean he’s going to resign in Ottawa no and that’s the problem with this deal is that it’s too early to be making this deal unfortunately for the Bruins they’re looking of that 25th overall pick and they want someone at that slot or they want to trade it that becomes the issue for the Bruins they get back a golender they get back a pick and they get back a prospect who can run guys over to put it nicely you know that’s that’s what they get 3 million instead of 5 million right you get $2 million less for the cap for a backup goenda be playing this coming year cuz to be honest they weren’t going to run the Tandem and I I I just don’t see a world where allmark was going to even he might have considered coming back but it would have been a tough sell especially with all the rumors going on around him you got to you got to take that in consideration too right whether you trade them this year you get some draft capital and who knows I still I am not convinced the Bruins are going to pick this draft you know they they have the opportunity to draft but I think that when you think about it from a broad perspective if they are a contending team this year it makes a ton a ton of sense if you’re if you’re Don Sweeney and the Bruins to trade this pick and say you know what we’re going to use this pick on a on a team that’s looking at this slot you know maybe you get a guy like Adam yur he might fall through down to 25 he’s been injured all year hard to say what his value actually is at this point right that might be the move that you do you send it back to another team remember this is the original Boston pick from the berzi trade way back in the day but the truth is this might just be the pick that Boston trades yet again at the draft when they see players that have a lot of value that just haven’t quite had the the eyes on them at this point could be an interesting move to pick up but now I’m sure you all want to see what’s next for the Bruins and this one is the cap and the free agency coming up and the contracts that we need to talk about so let’s talk right let’s talk are we in a bad spot no no we’re not because the truth is we’re in the exact same spot that we were before plus an extra about2 million and $2 million is a pretty good thing right think about it swming gets 8 million that leaves you about I don’t know say 16 14 million Math’s a little tricky sometimes but the truth is you know you get 14ish million to go spend on a right winger first Wing F first uh first line right winger and you get the rest of the money to go spend on a second line Center which is the biggest biggest areas of need for the Boston Bru at this year is that a bad deal to be able to free up a couple extra million dollars in cap and and really be able to experiment with it I’ll leave that with you let me know in the comments what you guys think obviously I I’m taking this from an optimist perspective I think that when we go to free agency when the Bruins go to free agency they’re going to have a field day this year because they finally have cap to spend and I think when I look at a guy like a Steven Stam Co a Patrick Kane you can really entice guys to come to Boston with the extra figures on short-term deals very important I got a lot of flack for this cuz I didn’t mention this in the in our free agent video which I’ll also link down in the description but if you think about it you can buy them on two-year deals right oneyear deals whatever it might be in two years time Matt potra will likely become that second line center for the Bruins right coil will still be on that Top Line the right Wingers will start to come up you know you have a guy like beer who can probably play up on that Top Line too at some point you know brazzo seems to be finding a stride and who knows maybe even Trent Frederick’s the guy that gets promoted at some point this is what you have to think about for the Bruins is short-term rentals Key guys that can help the team now for a win now environment but aren’t going to handcuff you from years to come this corporate Salo deal certainly doesn’t 3 million by 3 years as a backup goal tender who will likely play a sort of a more or less a 7030 split I I could see a 6 6 42 with Swan you know that’s not a bad deal you give San a lot of rest going into the playoffs you avoid the whole problem with huk that we saw this year where you overuse them it might be an interesting move for the Bruins and I really do like this deal I know a lot of people were very against it but you got to remember this isn’t over yet this move was to free up cap you free up the $5 million cap from allmark you take Corpus Salo at a discount you get these two goenda solo being a starting if he can find his Groove at the right time sure that’s an if that’s a big if but you can find an if at eventually it’ll turn into a when so in my eyes this is a great deal I love this deal now it just turns to Don Sweeney what’s the move in free agency that’s really going to set them apart this year I’d love to know your thoughts we made a video on it already so I’m not going to go too too far in but the two guys I’m looking at that I think could probably fill in about 12 million-ish is Stam Co and Kane I’ll leave that with you thank you all for watching if you like if you like to drop a like if you really lik this you’re subscribing tell all your friends in the comment down below your thoughts on the trade until next time see you [Music]

  1. I'm hoping Sweenys playing chess move the goalie and draft pick for someone good and keep the big guy

  2. sweeney isnt a fool. Yeah the parental failings of youtube love to troll in the comments, who cares. Let's see how this plays out. I have heard alot of good things about bussi.

  3. Give me a break homer

Value wise this trade stinks and only someone completing brain dead when it comes to understanding NHL player, draft pick and contract values would say otherwise

Korpisalo's contract is an albatross and he's terrible.

5×5 defensively Ottawa's numbers were very similar to Boston's this past season.

The difference? Boston's goalies bailed them out repeatedly while Korpisalo was literally the worst goalie in the entire NHL

The value of taking on 75% of that crap contract of Korpisalo's for the next 4 friggin years is basically the 25th pick in the draft

Again, to dump that kind of crap contract for a terrible goalie with too much money and term left on their deal most teams would have to move a 1st. That's what happened here.

Thus, what was Ullmark traded for?

A 4th line AHL grinder and the $1M in Cap Space they'll save between Ullmark and Korpisalo's contract next season

And you're repeatedly saying you love this deal in this video which is absolute insanity?

Bottom of the round 1st rounders typically take 3-5 years to develop into regular NHL players and all they typically are are bottom 6 forwards or bottom pair D-men

The Bruins 1st round picks in the 25-32 range under Don Sweeney? Beecher, Frederic. Two bottom six guys. So what are they even going to get with that 25th pick with Sweeney being the guy making the selection and how many years before that pick even plays a shift in Boston?

You're clearly a Sweeney Apologist that defends his crap results no matter how craptastic they are and these ARE FACTS!!!

    No Opinions here:

    FACTS:

-NHL's worst draft capital situation for the last 8 years due to pissing away all of their draft capital fixing his UFA, salary cap and drafting mistakes or chasing their latest playoff choke

-Only drafted in the 1st round TWICE since 2018.

First round picks since 2018? John Beecher (4th liner) and Fabian Lysell (trending towards being Don Sweeney's latest first round bust)

-NHL's worst farm system that has never been ranked better than 26th in any year of Don Sweeney's tenure as GM and is currently ranked between 28th-32 and dead last in the NHL EVERYWHERE!!!

-No real 1c or 2c on the team or in the organization. Don't say Coyle is a 2c. He has a lousy 4 goals over his last 27 playoff games where he's gone a -8 over those last 3 post seasons and a crap 47% at the faceoff dot

And Zacha doesn't even play a top 6 center role when it matters. This post season he was a 2nd line wing and playing third line center behind friggin Morgan Geekie and two post seasons ago he played wing with Bergeron and Marchand.

They don't play Zacha at center because he is craptastic 45% on faceoffs for his career in the playoffs where he's scored a whopping 1 goal in his 30 career playoff games and he can't win puck battles in front of the net or beneath the goal line

But no draft capital, the NHL's worst farm system, bottom of the league draft capital and not having a real 1c or 2c anywhere to be found….

All of that has been worth it because Don Sweeney's Bruins won a lot in the playoffs right?

Um, nope. Actually they've been nothing but choking dogs in the playoffs under Sweeney:

-8 of 9 years Don Sweeney's Bruins have failed to win more than one playoff round

-ONE, 2nd round series win in 9 years as GM, ONE!!!

    -Last 5 Bruins Post Seasons:

-2nd round beatdown by a much better FLA team
-1st round choke to FLA after setting the NHL"s regular season wins and points records
    -1st round choke to CAR
-2nd round loss to an inferior NYI team
-2nd round loss to a much better TB team

So to sum up. The trade sucks. If you actually knew anything about player, contract or draft pick value in the NHL this wouldn't have to be explained to you

And despite the Bruins having the NHL's worst draft capital position, one of the worst farm systems in the NHL (if not the worst), no real 1c or 2c and doing nothing but being choking playoff dogs in the playoffs…

Homers, still sing the praises of Don Sweeney and call terrible trades where the Bruins get hosed value wise Masterclass 🤣🤣

What an absolute joke. Please tell me the Bruins and even Don Sweeney pay you to spread this propaganda. You can't be serious right but alas, I think you 100% are which is super weird

Step away from the Bruins Kool-Aide kid. Sweeney and the Bruins have spiked it and you clearly have had far too many paper cups filled with that juice

And again before you respond let's not forget FACTS:

-Trade value wise, the Bruins got torched in this trade as the 1st's value is Korpisalo's contract, that's it.

Thus Sweeney basically traded Linus Ullmark for a 4th liner with a year left on his deal to add to his stable of fifty bottom 6 forwards and a lousy $1M in Cap Space next year

-8 of 9 years failed to win more than one playoff round.

ONE, 2nd round playoff series win in 9 years, ONE!!!

-NHL's worst draft capital position for about 6 years running

-One of the NHL's worst farm systems all 9 years of Don Sweeney's tenure as GM

-Still no real 1c or 2c anywhere to be found on the roster or in the organization

    #FACTS

But yeah, masterclass of a trade by Don Sweeney.

You can't make this Bruins Homer Delusional stuff up. Masterclass🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  4. Calling Korpisalo a starter is a very far stretch, he has been a solid back up most of his career. And if Kastilic is on the Bruins, you only have $1.1 million on the cap, making it quite literally a lateral move money wise.

  5. Can't imagine that there are many teams willing to give up a lot for a 30 year old goalie on the last year of his contract.

  6. As a fan of Ottawa I’m just glad to have Korpisalo gone and this would not have been done if our new goalie would not sign an extension

  7. Come on taking on 3 million a year cap hit for the next 3 to 4 years for a not very good goalie is not smart. The way to build is thru the draft, this move kind of delays any thought of getting any youth in the minors is shot especially if Sweeney trades the pick for a aging player

  8. Agree, they didn’t trade vezina ulmark from a year ago, they traded this years version…a guy they didn’t have confidence to play in the playoffs and on an expiring deal…Korpi will be solid for the Bs, mark my words.

  9. Sens fan here, Korpi is actually a really good goalie, the problem was the Sens D's are horrific! He will shine as a back up with the Bruins.
