Was very against the Kane trade last year, but now that his hip is all fixed up I’m all aboard bringing him back.
I think vet RW with no term is way to go. Only cos you could name 10 wings in the organization who have nhl potential, while you could name 3 centers and 6 defensemen. Nyr can’t lock up a wing for term when they need those slots for centers and defensemen.

I’m not really hoping that he comes back, but I won’t be disappointed if he does. If there’s one player who knows deep playoff runs and success, Patrick Kane is that guy. Could be very interesting to see what he adds off the ice

He brings speed and skill to a line that sorely needs it at RW. If he signs for 3 or 4 mil for 2 years …I wouldn’t care. We are not going to do better according to the general consensus on what other FAs are going to be asking. If Toffoli or Bertuzzi are asking for 6 million for 5 years …yeah that is not happening. I don’t put much into a story like this because Kane/His agent know how to drum up fake demand to try to maximize his next contract. Kane is about getting paid so honestly I wouldn’t want him.
I was just listening to SDPN talk about just how amazing Edmonton’s PK has been in these playoffs. I think that was a major factor to our success. Because up until Vesey got hurt …we were right there if not better than them. I think that injury turned the series cause we had to rely on Chytil and Wheeler to play meaningful minutes. And no offense to Trocheck he isn’t PK material.
That is definitely an area that needs to be addressed. A defensive center/shutdown center that can win FO. These are really hard to find. I always like Tyson Jost since his time with the Avs, but it looks like playing for Buffalo destroyed his career path. He might be a Vesey type signing to fill in for Goodrow. Or I am sure Tyler Johnson could be had for league min. or like a PTO. I think with him there is some sort of underlying physical issue to his decline in play.
And if none of this works out just send them to the minors or release them. Low risk moves. There are a few of these types of players out there struggling to stay in the show. This way we can fill out our bottom 6 for very little and if not …we play the twin towers and what we went with last season. I mean we did win the presidents trophy and all.
I really don’t want to see us sign any major deal. Or at least not a long term one. Drury wants to take a flier on some free agent just let it be for 2 years max because if Edmonton wins …McDavid is going to hit Free Agency and I need to be able to keep dreaming I will see a cup in my lifetime again.
I also think our backend is our biggest problem. We need size and experience to fill in the voids.
I’m open to Kane coming in as a discount. He is being predicted costing $6 million AAV and while that is probably worth it…our cap situation is tight. Maybe we can leverage a 35+ bonus situation but $6 million is just too much when we need to improve defense as well. I’m open minded tho. Would be a lot more into it without Trouba.

Kane was only initially willing to move his NMC for the Rangers so you know there’s strong motivation from him to want to be a Ranger. He also had good chemistry with Kreider and could act as a setup guy for Kreider and Zibanejad – conversely this would give you the flexibility to move Laf to the first line if desired, then pair Kane and Panarin to try to rekindle that chemistry from their Chicago days.

They should get him. The consensus on this sub of not wanting him last year, once healthy, was wild. He put up like what 48 pts in 50 games. I’m glad he shut everyone up. 2 year pact would be a great addition. It’s Patrick Kane damn near one of the greatest American forwards of all time.
No Kane was the biggest issue with the 23 playoff run.from how they played short to get him couldn’t rest guys. Shuffled a moving pp around to fit him in … I’d only take him if cap his was 5 or less and he doesn’t get superstar treatment he goes where he can help the team not put him where he should go cause he was a top player at one time
He sucked for us but post-surgery he’s been looking pretty good. I’d give it another shot if the price is right.

Yes, I get the playoff experience and whatnot but when he needed 2 games off to play 1, I felt very sour about him

Eh I didn’t love him here but he’s notably more effective since surgery. With little to no term I’m not opposed to having him back to stabilize the RW a bit
