New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald must have a SANDPAPER SUMMER!
It is time to bring in some desperately needed physicality and grit to this NJ Devils lineup.
Tom had a beautiful quote yesterday on TSN Overdrive (and others in the past couple of weeks) that gives me hope he will be actively looking to accomplish this.

Fitzy has taken care of the goaltending crisis that has plagued the Devils for an eternity.
Now it is time to improve the rest of the roster.
The NHL Draft is less than a week away.
Free Agency begins in a little over a week.
There are lots of exciting possibilities to improve this New Jersey Devils team for the 2024-2025 season.

Timo throws me still in the sandpaper department. I definitely believe end of the season Timo is the real Timo. Playoff Timo against the Rangers showed some sandpaper.

Senators get: 10OA, Bratt, Nemec, Holtz, 2026 First, Siegenthaler
Ideally extension in place for Chychrun.
Feel like it works for both teams. Nemec/Sanderson pair could be lethal.

I've mentioned this before: my favorite guy in the 90s, easily, was Claude Lemieux. I loved that everyone absolutely detested that guy. And that he actually didn't fight, which made them hate him more lmao. 95 Conn Smythe and well deserved.
We're a speed and skill team now, but it is definitely good to hear Fitz talk about getting "more violent" lol. We do need some more grit and toughness. To me, it started with the Carolina playoff series. I remember Hischier taking a monster hit from Kotkaniemi and looking surprised. And Ryan Graves also took a huge hit, looked equally surprised. I'm guessing teams all saw that and that was their scouting report going into this past year.
I'm hoping it's already not as big a deficiency as it was. Like you said having McDermid woke them up a little bit, and it had a bit of a domino effect as far as morale. Getting Brady would solve the problem. If not Brady then def one or two more forwards who can skate and play with some sandpaper. I don't know other teams rosters well enough to know who else might fit.
U think Fitzy would have known that last year especially after Carolina ran us out of the playoffs last season . Yet his big transaction was trading for Toffoli, that not only brought zero sandpaper. Anthony Declair was the guy I wanted him to sign ( still do ) would have been able to afford to keep Wood too

I’ve got faith that Fitzy will get it done this summer. He’s stepped up to acquire Keefe and Markstrom, I can’t see him talking a big game to the media and not following it up. I think players around the league are seeing NJ are poised to be a heavy contender in the coming seasons and will want to be a part of that. My summer wish list is Bertuzzi, Tanev and Zadorov which can all be acquired through free agency. That still leaves the number 10 pick in play also. Some combination of Number 10, Casey, Palat, Seigs, Marino or another pick or prospect to Ottawa for Brady Tkachuk. At this point if it took moving Mercer in a deal to land Tkachuk I’d say pull the trigger assuming we add some of the above mentioned free agents. It’s going to be an exciting coming month for the franchise and let’s see what Fitz can pull off.

Yeah i think oilers win too it just seems like the panthers just keep trying to chip n chase all night and there forececk has been non existent they have to try ans create alittle off the rush they do have aome skilled players
