RYAN MOORE is all class to steer PORT FAIRY to Ribblesdale Stakes glory!

Ryan Moore has become Royal Ascot’s leading current jockey, overtaking the great Frankie Dettori, with his 82nd victory at the meeting aboard Port Fairy in the Ribblesdale Stakes.

He outbattled outsider Lava Stream and well-backed favourite Kalpana to score for Aidan O’Brien on Gold Cup day.

  1. But he'll never get anywhere close to Lester Piggott's Royal Ascot total of winners. And Lester achieved his number of winners when Royal Ascot was a day less than it is nowadays. Lester was the greatest jockey there has ever been.

  2. Captain of the Clown Club has gone from slagging Ryan off to now backing him every race 😂😂😂😂😂😂
    Couldn’t make it up.

  3. Gave up on Frankie when he admitted to inserting a piece of lead in the end of his whip, admittedly he was young man at the time.

  4. As an ex full time employee in racing and poor point to point jockey of middle age vintage, who rarely bets, I view Ryan as a once in a lifetime jockey. He and Aiden O'brien were made for each other. Within this conversation, people mention Ryan getting on the wrong horse, making mistakes etc etc. For me, he is seldom on the wrong horse when it counts. Comparing him to LP is obvious but not fair. LP would be hung drawn and quartered today with his whip action. They are both "of their time". In 2006, I saddled a horse at Bath in a low grade 2yrs race. RM was the jockey. The time and effort he had put into looking through the race and the horse in question was impressive to say the least. I know LP wouldn't have got out of bed to ride it in the morning, never mind drive to Bath.
