Tyler Toffoli catching strays in this post.

VGK should be the standard, gotta be ruthless to win

Now dump Panarin aka the stale piece of bread in the playoffs and let’s talk about “ruthless”.

Goodrow leaving was inevitable at this cap hit. The only thing I dislike is getting absolutely nothing in return. But if I had to choose between keeping him or clearing the cap space, I take the space.

  5. cool, that means trouba should be gone 12:01 July 1st

Interesting that Brook’s chosen narrative is “championship organization” move and not “Drury got lucky and bailed out by former associate and should count his blessings.”

The entire process was ballsy. What a statement to the league and the rest of the roster.

  8. Now it’s time to get Zibanejad to waive that no-move clause and hopefully find a new home for Trouba as well.

Now do Trouba and this article will be more accurate.

Championship teams also build a deep D.

    Get cracking.

It was a great move to free the cap space at no cost… it was a dick move to send him to a team that he put on NO trade list ..Drury gave that awful contract to goodrow with the trade list to than go around it like that set a bad picture and sends a message of why should I make a deal with this guy if he will just find loop holes

Um, ballsy? More like sleazy. I bet there’s a lot of free agents who are gonna think twice about signing with NYR if the organization gets into the habit of circumventing player contracts.

I really don’t like this move by Drury it’s shitty and send a sour to players . Goodrow showed up in the playoffs i get it’s a business but you can respect the contract they gave him ..

The tone that this move sets is the tone I’ve been wanting the Rangers organization to have for 20 years. “We’re building a winner, fuck anyone who’s in the way.”

Mark my words, Goodrow will be a Devil at the trade deadline and he will be very motivated to beat us.

  16. People talking back door…there is no back door. He got waived and someone was bound to pick him up.

I think too many people reading too much into whatever conspiracy

  17. Nyrfan2017

The exact approach rangers need is to stop giving out rediculous contracts with no trade clauses

Everyone knows Goodrow’s scoring against us next year right?

I don’t know if I agree with how Brooks is saying it. It’s a business move. Tried to trade him, but there was likely no valuable return, or teams wanted something extra to take him and his cap.

Drury knew teams wanted him, but they didn’t want his salary, and Drury didn’t want to keep his salary. Putting him on waivers, he knew someone would take him, and we’d have nothing to hold on our end.

Smart move to get rid of a bad contract without having to give up anything else.

Sucks that he went to a team he expressly didn’t want to go to, but the other 16 teams weren’t offering anything good. Further, who knows how many other teams would have picked him off waivers, Sharks get first dibs on anyone being put on waivers.
