[Seravalli] NYR buyout candidate Barclay Goodrow was placed on waivers today. Rangers are hoping to gauge the market on him. If someone claims him, full contract comes off the books. If not, they’ll have to examine other options – including buyout with unique cap credit for next year.

Not sure what the unique cap credit is, but glad CapFriendly is around for a little longer to figure this out.

We gain cap next season if a buyout happens, somewhere in the 240k range. Season after is somewhere around 1.5m. Following season is an ugly 3.5m, with the cap expecting to be higher. And then 3 seasons of 1.1m. I might have reversed the 1.5 and 1.1, I don’t remember.

Hoping someone just claims him straight-up.

Please someone pick up playoff expert goodrow. Totally worth that contract 👍 😉

Good . Sign useless kappo and dump a guy who actually does something in the post season

Good that Drury can move on from a mistake. Bad that his mistakes are extremely difficult to move on from

The Buchnevich trade just gets worse and worse lol

He’s going to Vegas. Doesn’t matter if he doesn’t play well in the regular season if he suffers a mysterious injury in October, and is miraculously healed for game one of the playoffs.

It’s so weird to me that he is universally acknowledged to be a detriment to his team, yet was never a healthy scratch nor criticized by his coach, and wears an “A.”

He must bring something to the table—maybe a great work ethic during practice? Either way, he’s dead weight and needs to go.

To the teams we’ve made deals with in the past for “future considerations”, nows the time.

I could see a team like Chicago or San Jose claiming him, a really good character guy for their young players to be around. His contract would also end around the time they’ll be ready to be competitive

It is only because of his contract. Nothing else. I’m confident the team appreciated what he did for the team, but he is just too expensive for a 4th line role.

There’s little to no chance he gets claimed unless there are multiple claims immediately. He’s being placed on waivers for the purpose of a buyout, so why pay him 10 million dollars over three years now when you can pay less money for fewer years in about two weeks?

Look, I liked goody and he showed up big time in the playoffs for us but it’s time for him to move on from ny. His contract definitely fucks with our bank and it’s just the name of the game.

Pld or hubrdeau trade for goodrow? Is there anything there?

    Maybe Jack Campbell from edmonton?

    Bad contract for bad contract
