I love Jeff Skinner. Entertaining player. Entertaining person. But, I’m not convinced his playstyle is conducive to winning hockey. He needs to be sorely sheltered which isn’t really helpful on a team with a lot of young players still learning how to play NHL defense.
I think a buyout (or trade, if one presents itself without having to give up too much value to move him) makes the most sense. His ice time opens up a lot of possibilities to make this team better immediately. I also hope he goes to a likable team that can use his talents appropriately.
