You need a trading partner that needs what you are offering. To me this screams Pittsburgh. Lets get Crosby for 5-6 quality pieces. Guhle, 260VA 2024, 1st 2025, Kapanen, Ylonen, Trudeau. This would go a long way in refilling the empty cupboards in PIttsburgh.

I wouldn’t take a Russian when there are good picks available. Rather have a guy playing from North America or Europe. At least they are sure to play for you. Huge question marks with Russians.
When will an intelligent, non greedy kid will come out and say 7 millions each year for the next 6 years is way to much. Give me 3.5 millions for the next 2 years. If I performed like I was suppose to do, I will take 2.5 millions more. If not, (without injuries) 3.5 millions will be my salary for the rest of my contract.

I think that if Lindstrom is not available at no 5, that the HABS will NOT select Demidov, but rather Iginla instead IMO.

This is interesting. Some people say that they used to be high on Demidov, and now less so. Where does that flip flop come from? It comes from what you HEAR from this and that source. Clearly NOT from your infinite personal hockey knnowledge. Because you haven't seen or scouted the player extensively. This is why I have to laugh when people have firm opinions on this or that player, or when they criticize management for their moves.

Zegris costs $5.75 m per year but potential stars like Catton, Sennecke, Demidov., Lindstrom, and Iginla, will cost around 5M FOR ALL 5 per year. We have 2 firsts for next year and a lot of capital for trade. Matheson is 30 and costs $4.5m and first line D for 3 years when we are at the end of rebuild and Hutson, Mailloux, and Reinbacher should be ready for the challenge of leading the PP. We have to pay them more so we gotta' be ready financially and get who ever prepared. This is our most important draft in decades so use all our picks and trades wisely. Matheson and pick 26 for who ever needs a #1 D now. etc, etc.
A Nacas trade would be Josh Anderson all over again…..
3 way trade if demidov and Lindstrom not there at 5. Calgary trade markstrom to NJ for 10th pick. Then Calgary trades pick 9 and 10 to habs for pick 5.
Anything more than $5 million per for Ghule is an overpayment. If he wants more than $5 million per then you trade him. Slafkovsky does not have to sign a friendly deal. Montreal is not his home town.
Montreal will use both first round picks. Carolina H-ATE-S Montreal so forget Necas. Might have a chance at Zegras but it will be an overpay.
If we draft Demidov our rebuild is done.
