We NEED to talk about THAT Bennett McDavid incident
Sam Bennett was back to being a controversial factor as he “accidentally” hit Connor McDavid in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. #hockey #nhl #stanleycup
He should be an actor saying he didn’t see or know where Connor was at because what good hockey player would not know where he is at on the ice the hole time.
How is that not interference whether it was intentional or not? It is still interference. And relying on ESPN homers saying it was accidental is irrelevant. I am not an Oilers fan by any measure but the officiating sucks in the NHL. Hence why I refuse to watch live games, and I covered this league for 25 years.
Why are there 2 sets of rules in the NHL, and one for the panthers and one for the rest of the teams? Bad officiating would be random. I wonder who will win (or be awarded the stanley cup). Why does betman want the panthers to win the cup? The team owners must be complicit. They should get rid of betman. Maybe they could replace him with Vince McMahon.
dirty players play their whole lives trying to make every dirty hit look like an accident don't be fooled by a snake he is a dirty as they get in hockey no look hitting can end careers imagine McDavid having a shortened career as did Bobby Orr or as did the bruins forward Marc Savard get the goons out of hockey big $$ fines for these jerks
You can see Bennett was trying to go left behind as McDavid turns towards the boards expecting him to not be in his path when he got there but McDavid slowed down and increased his turn (looks like he was slowing up in anticipating going to the bench) and at the last second Bennett realized he was going to hit him and put his hands out. If Bennett wanted to actually hit McDavid, he could have laid him out cold on that play with a solid shoulder check.
McDavid wishes he had Bennet as a team mate like back in the day. Someone to ante up the knuckle sandwiches when these accidental hits take place. No puck possession, blood, no call.
It's Bennett, he's a rat always doing cheap shit!!?? That hit is almost just like the Marchand hit!? Just watch his right hand!? He finishes high and brings his right hand in up high at face level and looks like he at very least tried to "accidentally" punch McDavid in same way he did to Marchand in 2nd round this season and Mathew Knies in 2nd round last season!? It looked like McDavids chin was bleeding so Bennett probably did catch him in face with the right hand or butt end of stick cuz he had it in his right hand too!? I'd like to see this play slowed down so I could analyze exactly what happened there!? It's tough from the quick clips of hit in this video but still from looks of it I highly doubt that that was completely accidental cuz he saw McDavid coming and didn't try to avoid at all he just took advantage of situation and used it as an excuse to drop McDavid!? He saw McDavid coming cuz he was prepared for contact and had McDavid wasn't and was in semi vulnerable spot cuz he was turning and not expecting to get hit cuz puck was nowhere near him!?
It's already been said that Bennett and McDavid are childhood friends. They played together as kids. You even can see Bennet's physical reaction to it, and goes over to McDavid almost immediately to check on him.
Bennet and Kane both knew what they were doing. Nice to see bennet get a small dose of his own medicine after all of his cheap shots prior to this series
Oilers started winning this season when Knoblauch took over and they adopted his system, which uses a basketball pick style for Oilers not carrying the puck. This is technically interference, but refs can't call it every time. McDavid was running a curl back at the blue line in this system. They both saw each other and both let the collision happen. Refs will let this go.
I was a bit of a shitrat when I played and this is the kind of thing I used to do, and it’s hard to believe he didn’t see McDavid. The ol accidental/on purpose has a few easy to follow steps: See player who is unaware of your presence and not expecting contact, line it up so your paths collide, set your base, look away prior to contact while being prepared for the collision, have some dramatic body movement after running into them as a means of selling the “incidental” contact. It all happens in a split second but it’s not hard to pull off. I started pulling this shit when I was 13 so I’d guess it’s instinct for a guy like Bennett

Sam Bennett = a slightly smarter Raffi Torres
How do you leave your feet on purpose during an "accidental" collision?
Does McDavid wear a skirt? It's Stanley Cup Finals. Take the heat or go home

My bet to dye my hair ginger if the oilers lose is looking pretty bad..

Kinda like MacD's high stick on Huges, accidentally on purpose.
While I think he meant to hit him I not sure if he meant to hit him that hard or actually make him bleed his own blood.
Comments as usual filled with haters whiners and people who think they know stuff
Nothing to talk about. It was a nothing play, really. Full-body contact, which happens to hockey players, even stars.

Oh no someone touched mcdavid! I hope his vagina is okay😢
He knew. He saw him and knew exactly what he was doing.
Curious to know why no body from Edmonton, went after Baldy Bennett? A dirty player!

Almost broke his leg, again.
Anything to win oilers are too soft with bad goal tending
You better keep that same energy today with that bullshit Draisaitl pulled.
the great can’t even win one
you dont NEED to talk about grown men playing a game
Its June, go outside ffs
Keep whining, Oilers fans. We all love it in Toronto. Being humbled quickly. Enjoy the SWEEP!!!
Boy I hope Bennet gets knocked on his ass next game.
I smell a rat.
