The Carolina Hurricanes announced they were looking for a mid-round pick for the negotiating rights to Jake Guentzel but the New York Islanders probably can’t afford to sign Guentzel even if they get his rights. One player who could help the Isles offense without breaking the bank is Tyler Toffoli. We discuss what he would cost as a free agent and where he could fit on the Isles.

Toffoli seems to move all over the place and is slow, a big louzer must. Isles are fkd, no one can help fill the many needs without breaking their already strapped bank and long term deal. Just keep the picks, find some talent with 3 picks in top 54, and start getting some top end prospects into isles weak system. Still one year away from the buy out process of 44 and 27 so isles can't even dump them yet without costly retainment/picks to do it. Only things possible that isles can/may do. The rumoured a. gauzer euro swiss d man one year cheap signing deal rumoured like two months ago. Or isles could go for the bottom six upgrade and sign sprong. Guy gets 20 goals every year playing bottom line minutes. Could be had on one year deal-again-if roy is willing to put up with his d flubs he is prone to. Sprong is big with a heavy shot could add punch to third line. A sad tale is playing out for isles future as louzer can only do a tier two cheap ufa bargain shopping in july and can't join in on trade activities as good forwards move all over the nhl. nj will get a goalie, wings wont stand pat, sabres close making isles route back to playoffs even harder without upgrades louzer can't make. And canes will be very active as necas is moved and guentzal flipped for a pick. I hear hawks with the cap room/picks are in on guentzal. Utah yotes could easily go after guentzal or anyone out there as well. And no isles would be fkn stupid to give another max deal to a 29 year old with a bad shoulder. No off-season goodies for you louzer.
Brent Sutter had some really good seasons with the Islanders and played 10 full seasons wirh the team. He was part of two Stanley Cup winners. I would definitely consider putting his number in the rafters.

They haven't been good at PK since the good old days of #18, Lorne Henning and Butch Goring. HAPPY 🎂, BRENT SUTTER. He was cool, and I do remember him looking out for big brother, Duane on one occasion. Before I go, if The Islanders draft Trevor Connelly, and if he makes the team, that's fine, all well and good, he's supposed to be a human highlight reel; however, he's also done some things, that aren't cool like painting a swastika, and using a racial slur at a teammate. So Patrick Roy should have a sit-down with this kid and tell him THERE'S NO ROOM ON THIS TEAM FOR PREJUDICE OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER. Good morning team. I hope everyone had a great weekend. Gil, great show! The Sutter brothers sure were great players. Happy Birthday Brent! I agree with TheHowMan68. Every team needs an enforcer. When I was a younger Islander fan, we called them the Goon Squad. Martin is an enforcer for sure, but he has lost a few steps, and right now, it's time to say goodbye. There are quite a few players on this squad I like, but reality has to set in at some point. Going to say something harsh here. I truly don't think Lou is going to do it anytime in the near future, but except for a handful of players, in order to be a legitimate contender for the Cup, the Islanders are going to look nothing like they are at this present time. Gm Gil. as was described on the broadcast for Game 1 of the finals, the Oilers were built via the draft and the Panthers through trades and FA. As the Isles management have proven themselves as inept at both, any move made should have no more than 2 years in length. The Jake G contract is the perfect blunder for Lou to latch on to.

Hey Gil if we got Nakita Zadurov and Nic Ehlers while moving on from Martin and Clutterbuck it would be a great start. If they could bring in a guy like Tyler Toffoli or Anthony Duclair we would be competitive quickly this season.
