Thomas Drance on Zadorov, Lindhom and the Stanley Cup Final
Thomas Drance from The Athletic and Sportsnet 650 joined the guys and talked about Nikita Zadorov and Elias Lindholm’s future with the Canucks and who he likes in the Stanley Cup Final.
Would of, could of… but Vancouver was there. If Pettersson played even half as he did during the bubble playoffs, it would have been the Canucks making it through. Don't want to entirely blame it on Petey, but he's one of the top guys, he needs to perform as such.
i think with a productive pettersson and a healthy demko the canucks could have won this series. financially the oilers were able to keep everybody from last year and add to the lineup at the trade deadline this year and vancouver won't be there for a couple of more years.
People better not panic when the canucks take a step back next year because they are going to lose some veterans to FA. Hopefully 1 step back two steps forward once some prospects develop.
The oilers have proven a team with an elite top 6 can win. The Canucks didn’t have enough talent to make a top 6 that could match with them, and then Tocchet tried to stretch that limited talent over 3 lines.
Zadorov is a good, big defenceman. But so was myers. People tend to forget how horrible that 6 million dollar contract looked up until around january. So maybe signing zadorov (a solud 3rd pairing D man) to anything over 4 million with term would probably be jumping the gun a little bit hey?
They need to work on their neutral zone both ways. Rushes were terrible, and defensively they had no resistance, just back in and give ample room for attackers
I don't necessarily disagree with Drance, but he tends to overdraw and delete relevant details to make his point. Which wouldn't matter if he didn't have this rationalist presentation. Being truly rational would require a bit more nuance.
As an Oiler's fan I hope they overpay both. You got them in contract years, you haven't seen them in later seasons yet. Lindholm was the most invisible player I've ever seen as a top line centre in Calgary.
A lot of gigantic players in the League take a long time to play to their size, because of how many of them seem embarrassed to be huge. It's harder for them to skate and use their stick as fast as the smaller players, but Zadorov has looked good as a Canuck and gives the team some swagger.
Given how many people in the Ottawa area live across the bridge in Hull, the commute out to Kanata for hockey fans is a lot worse because of the actual winter weather that Florida doesn't have to contend with.
Drance actually sprained his ankle at a peeler bar in LA after a few too many pops and tripped on the staircase. Drance doesn't look like the hiking type but a regular at the Orange.
Its laughable how everyone in media thinks they are the next gm of the canucks. Completely out to lunch These are human beings not hockey cards to be traded like a collectable. Drance the worst media guy in vancouver. He was a marketing guy not the next scotty bowman. Truly laughable

The Nucks played like poop in the playoffs and only played one game [gm-5] against the Oilers

If Pettersson played like he did in the bubble, the Canucks would have had a good chance at making the finals

On the whole, injuries were minimal throughout the season. Odds are the injury bug will rear its head next year.
Losing your best scorer before game 7 helps the opponent "put the boot down". Not to mention, without your elite goalie.

I would trust Zadorov's health more than that of Hronek. Tons of term and money for Hronek, what could posssibly go wrong?

thought Thomas might have hurt his ankle jumping back on the Oiler bandwagon
Trade soucy to Seattle , sign Zadorov.

You can tell Drance knows he's even thowing out BS when he starts talking really fast. Not confident in his own words.
This guy's a fucking bridge troll.
ALWAYS.. backhanded compliments from dudes like this..
Same with that Paterson guy, not the overpaid baby deer.. lol…
But the other lippy piece of crust.
Donnie and Dhali are the best voices in Vancouver hockey media 👌🙏👍
I rarely listen to this guy or read his crap, he's always such a drag.
Sign Big Z, Sign Joshua…Lindholm is too expensive so let him walk. Give Hronek the boot
Did Drance say he twerked? get well soon buddy
Drance has like 15 boosters.

Zadorov 5 years $30 Million.
Trade Petey for a rugged winger.
