$30M Loss for Elias Lindholm?

$30M Loss for Elias Lindholm?

Elias Lindholm and Brett Pesce, two quality players from Vancouver and Carolina respectively, may not receive the payday they anticipated. Let’s rewind to last September or October when Lindholm was with Calgary.

The Flames’ offer was a minimum of 8 years for $64 million, possibly even as high as 8.5 years for $68 million. However, the latest projection suggests a contract worth 5 years at $6.75 million per year, totaling around $34 million.

If these numbers hold true, Lindholm might have cost himself at least $30 million!

  1. You compared 8 years to 5 years. 30 million….what about the opportunity at pay for an additional 3 years. I agree would be a loss either way but maybe it’s a 12 million loss?

  2. I get the projection but someone will overpay for him. I’d bet 7×7.5-8ish. Still means he left significant money on the table tho.

  3. Frank. After that five year contract he would still be playing in the nhl. Even at that projection he’s not out $30M man, teloi have to know that.
