The rangers are built to win President's trophies, the Panthers are built to win Stanley cups.
Not with soft players like Kreider and Mika. Take them off the PP , THEY WOULDNT CRACK A NHL LINEUP!!!!
Yes… The Rangers need determined defense men, muscle with experience and, the expensive dead weight to go elsewhere.. It's not difficult to detect.. The chemistry is all wrong as is the focus… Let's Go Rangers!!!!! 😮
If only the Rangers knew what Rangers hockey means to some fans and if they had half the heart & perseverance of some of their fans like Steven McDonald, they might have found a way to win the cup. Rangers need a real leader. A Michael Jordan ( in terms of competitiveness, drive etc) and someone who makes everyone around them better. He makes mediocre players good and good players great. Winning is a mentality and until the Rangers get physically and mentally tougher, they will never win a cup.
Numbers of people tried so hard to make comparison between this Rangers team and the 94 team. And they did so with Peter Laviolette as the Coach. Keenan was available and at 73, still had the motivation to Coach in the NHL. Realizing you can bring Messia or Leach back in 23. Rangers could've brought Keenan back. Mike Keenan made some incredible sacrifices joining the Rangers in 93, passing over an opportunity to Coach an Eric Lindros Flyers team. Mike was Phillys first choice. Rangers chose not to offer him the Head Coaching job in 23, which was their reasonable expectation.
I say next 3season we hopefully have SC cuz that is window of winning opportunity to win. After that think they need to be rebuilt for next 5years. JS been fan since 74
Rangers window is done the devils are the future of the metro
It’s insanity to keep the same players every season and expect better results. The current roster will never get over the hump. Give it up. It’s over. The rangers have missed their window. Downhill from here
OK! I will be a bit long again but there is so much to say.
I tried to listen to the end before commenting but I simply can't not agree with your statement that there is not a lot of difference between the 1994 Rangers and the current edition.
On the contrary there is a world of difference.
First of all the 1993-1994 Rangers of the beginning of that season were completely transformed at one of the most memorable trade deadline of all in march 1994.
They traded talented players like Mike Gartner and Tony Amonte to get Glenn Anderson, Brian Noonan and Stephane Matteau. And they added Craig MacTavish as well at the deadline.
Not mentionning the acquisition of Steve Larmer and the enforcer Nick Kyprios in november of 1993.
And there is no doubt in my mind that the acquisition of Esa Tikkanen the year before that was crucial. There is no "pest" like him in the actual roster. Not even close.
Neil Smith (pushed by Mike Keenan as we have come to know afterwards) had a huge impact on the 1994 championship.
And even with all those much needed and very bold moves they came that close to fail in 1994 in both the ECF and the finals.
But I will never buy that the current and very good edition of the New-York Rangers, all things being equal, would go pass Florida if they had to next season. So, things must not be equal if they want to go the extra mile.
Lavilolette had a bizarre comment at the breakout tuesday when he said that next year they could get through Florida because, well, every year is different.
The man has too much experience to rely on wishful thinking as a strategy.
Of course it could happen. They could even lose in the 1st round next year for that matter.
We had enough of a sample size to know that Chris Drury must- if he can- find a better balance between grit and skill.
The Rangers are loaded with the latter but they lack with the former.
There is a very good candidate in the free agent market in Vancouver called Nikita Zadorov. The man is build like a train and he's arguably a game changer.
I heard he refused an extension with the Canucks. I would start there if I was Chris Drury. Panarin would feel much bigger with another compatriot like Zadorov on the blue line.
0:08 I think it will be between them and the canes see if Rangers can be 1994,s team and canes be like the 2006 canes.
Short answer: No.
"Be that as it may"? I'm glad you remember that deadline of all dealines in 1994. But you came up short of drawing the right conclusion.
That being said, of course they are close and they are good.. But wait until you have 50 years of experience as a Rangers fan and we'll see if you are that patient. 😉
There's always a chance to win the Cup especially with Igor.
I have enjoyed your podcast this year, thank you for doing this.
This is going to be a really long off season, and probably a really long regular season next year too
