Martin Necas is a 25 year old winger with the Carolina Hurricanes. Last season he had 53 points playing top 6 minutes with the Hurricanes and is now an RFA. With Carolina’s cap situation and the desire to retains Guentzel, can Detroit swoop in and take the offense first forward. And more importantly, does he fit Detroit’s style? #LGRW

I heard Boston is interested in Martin Necas. David Pastrnak fellow countryman wants Necas in Boston.
Brian's mike was low volume wise.
They won't have any cap room to sign him to the contract he wants. This ship has sailed. Hronk was the only notable trade chip and they moved him last year for a draft pick.
Being better defensively is necessarily not the same thing as adding only defensive-minded players. You need guys who can battle for the puck and guys who can move the puck out of the d-zone and/or keep it in the o-zone and I think Steve is well aware of this. I also think these attributes is something that all of Steve's 1st round picks have in common. If Necas is that kind of player I'd be happy to have him
