at the trade deadline the Colorado Avalanche traded bow and Byron for Casey Mowat straight up and being the a former top 10 pick by the Buffalo Sabers Casey midleap was their main Center that they hoped will become like a level as Nathan McKinnon type of guy a top Center I mean yeah Center in the NHL and for the Avalanche he’s now going to be the second he was the second like line center for the Avalanche bringing depth there in a position they really needed it sucks that they had to sacrifice bowl and byon but it was a needed sacrifice and is showed this season [Music] [Music] yo YouTube what’s going on it’s your boy Rocky Mountain hockey back here with another video and today we’re going to break down why the Colarado Avalanche should sign restricted free agent Casey middleset to a contract this offseason I think it should be a three to foure contract because of his situation and the situation the Avalanche are in cap wise I wouldn’t give a big 8 to 7year deal to case middle set I’ll would give it a four four fiveyear contract instead keeping the dep behind Nathan McKinnon and even mixing him in with McKinnon rotating them as well having the lines change with him being the main guy on that second line and here’s the thing with Casey midat he played 18 total games in the regular season and 11 in the playoffs let’s start off with the regular season what he did for the Avalanche in the regular season he had four total goals six assists and 10 points so he had a total of 10 total points for the Colorado Avalanche Round Up Just A Game shot having a point a game which is very good to see from your second Center which you like and then face offs he was huge in for the carado Avalanche as well phase off percentage was 46 which was one of his best of course this year if you add it up average wise he’s 43 but that helped the Avalanche out that 46% that he had was huge for the Colorado Avalanche because they needed a guy on the face who you could trust on the face off and he showed it and then of of course his overall stats it doesn’t look the prettiest but to be fair it is total of 18 games with the avalanch and then in the playoffs he he stepped up when they needed him he had a total of nine points on 11 games basically almost averaging a point a game in the NHL playoffs so he made an impact in the playoffs having three goals two in the Dallas series and one in the winipeg jet series which was here huge for the Colorado Avalanche and then his face off percentage was 44% in the playoffs for the Avalanche basically he’s not your big faceof guy that is more um Nathan mckin Mel ranin but when if you you weren’t worried if you needed to win a face off if he was in there cuz you know he could it’s not the face off percentage you would like to see from your Center but it’s a not a terrible one at all and I think middle set is going to be huge for the Colorado Avalanche as well this off season because he is going to be a big piece to add and depthwise to add for the Avalanche as well because of his ability on that second line basically being the author basically you could call it basically being the main painter setting guys up setting up B nutrian setting up M ranin when he was down on the second line setting up AR Chuy leinen him and linan and P all had great time together when they were together on that second line in that winipeg series arery linan really stepped it up for in the second line with Casey midad him and midat down there were directing traffic directing the puck moving the puck around confusing one of the best goalies in the entire NHL and Conor huk five pass huk if you know what I mean in getting it going and he was huge and then even in the Dallas series the two goals he’s had were two big goals one of them brought gave the Avalanche their first lead in the series the other one helped them as well in a game in a game before when you tried you were down 31 down three and you got the one to try to help rally he was the only one who showed up that day and had a goal so overall Casey middle set is going to be a huge part for the Colorado Avalanche to resign because of his ability as well and he’s going to be able to help out and even on the power play directing the power play is going to be huge especially this next year because you you’re going to have a guy when the playoff times come next next year in arui linan who’s going to be sent down to the second power play unit having middle set haves and then you can mix and match who you want as well down there with NuSkin up there mix and match he’s going to be huge because he’s going to have nice passing ability you’ll have Ross Colt in there and probably Logan ‘ Conor you’re going to have guys and Middle’s going to be the guy to getting it to the Val NuSkin in the paint getting it over to devonte’s up top to another pass to try and find a guy inside in front of the goal for redirect or get it out to Edge to Ross Colton who can snipe it in you’re going to be looking for a guy like middle Sapp who can get it to the snipers and that’s going to be huge on the second power play because this year it it was it seemed like a night and day different from when the first Power Play team was out there compared to the second now of course the power play hasn’t been the same since 2022 but over in 2022 that power play unit was so good the depth why it’s there but but you’re going to need a guy and that’s what Casey midat is going to bring he is bringing back dep and security on that second line that you haven’t had since nazam Kadri left you cuz he’s finally the Kadri replacement that Avalanche fans were looking for and hoping for you finally got that with Casey middle said he so he’s going to be just as big as a
