A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player who skates, jumps into or charges an opponent in any manner. Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A “charge” may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice.
1. Pettersson absorbed a "check", did not initiate a "check" ……..but perhaps there is no difference to the league? IDK
2. "skates" and "as a result of distance traveled", clearly indicates a requisite.
Whether it was bias, a new interpretation of the rule, ignorance of the rule, or a stupid mistake, it was a terrible call especially since it was what Kronwall did every game of his career.
Personally, I would rather a REAL game that might take a bit longer getting it CORRECT than leaving the window open for opportunities of BIAS. I will never bet a penny on the NHL for this one reason.
The ref inside the Canucks blueline keeps his arm down. No call (00:00– 00:06) The ref inside the Oilers blueline raises his arm. Call made (00:14) 🤦♂Corruption!
As a non fan of either team that was probably the worst call I’ve ever seen – what a disgrace this league has become – playoff games with call like that ? How in hell can that call be justified ???????
I guess technically according to the written rule this could be called charging. But in my 25+ years of watching hockey I have never seen a single ref make this call at any level. The refs have been absolutely brutal this playoffs.

He didn’t even take a stride
he did jump though
They saw the 7 and probably thought it was McDouche going down.
Lol little hop, not even a hard hit, and the oiler lost his footing 😅😅

I think this clip really demonstrates why Petey's slumping… he's afraid of contact,. He doesn't have "the dog" necessary for playoff hockey.
Terrible call
The fix is in and it's official Vancouver is not to make it to the next round, the deal is done.
Moat ridiculous call in this playoffs. Charging? What charging he was stationary.

Leave your feet into a hit… Charging.
this reminds me of that off side from a few years ago.
You have been kronwalled
Joke of a call, charging by definition requires forward movement.
reffing was so messed up all playoffs for all teams.
Ref qualifications:
1. visual impairment
2. questionable judgment
3. need to control the game
this call makes no sense to me.
-Oilers fan as well.
Auston Matthews, Elias Pettersson and Jaccob Slavin were named finalists for the Lady Byng Trophy.
Very bad call here! 😅
He is jumping back just a bit you can see it from each angle

Yikes 😳 how is that called a penalty?
Embarrassing offials. OMG. What!?
