I remember seeing the puck take that bounce, and then the crossing pass to Tuch, and a wide open shot on the net, and in that split second, all I could think about was all of the past heartbreaks of watching this team fail in the playoffs. The 3-1 blown series against Montreal, the Rangers tying the game with seconds left and winning game 5 in OT in 2012, the game 7 overtime losses, the Penguins owning this team’s soul for so long, Ovechkin not being able to break through. Then I saw Vegas winning this game in OT and the Caps falling apart the rest of the series. All I could do in that moment was close my eyes and put my head down. But all my ears heard was Doc Emrick screaming that the shot didn’t go, and my wife saying, “NO WAY,” before I looked up and realized what happened. In that moment, all the thoughts that went through my head in the previous seconds were gone, and I knew the series was over.

This was the moment the momentum swung in our direction. It never swung back.

I spat my beer out when I saw that. Shout out to Jimmy’s in Herndon, who didn’t kick me out because of the mess I made.

What a great post season this was.

I knew the Caps were due when I noticed they were getting all the lucky bounces and contributions from all lines.

Every year before and since, they never got lucky bounces and only a few players would step up.

The whole team seemed to change once they hit the playoffs. It was awesome.

“Oooooh and it didn’t go! It was Tuch with the wide open net” still rings in my ears.

Might be the most clutch save, given the situation, in NHL history. Who knows what becomes of that series if Vegas ties it up.

Has to be one of the greatest moment in Caps history. I love the shot of Ovi’s reaction, where he just kind of collapses, and then Oshie where he jumps up and starts beating his stick against the boards. It was at that moment that i thought- we’re gonna win this.
