Austin “The Toothless Wonder” Watson was acquired on October 11th 2020 in exchange for a 2021 4th round draft pick. Having played under DJ Smith before, and having won a memorial cup championship with him, it was a good idea to bring in a veteran player familiar with DJ’s style of coaching.
A solid pick up for the Senators, Watson brings grit, leadership, and scoring depth. In 53 games with the Nashville Predators, he tallied 6 goals and 14 points.
