With Vancouver Canucks prospect and Utica Comets defenceman Olli Juolevi suffering a season-ending knee injury a year ago, much is left for speculation as to what’s next for the 21-year-old Finn. In this video, let’s go over what’s next for the 2016 NHL Draft prospect, Olli Juolevi.

Olli for the win!!!!
Future T4D
6,2 close to 200 pounds!!! Solid D
Is he a late Bloomer? I thought this guy would hit the NHL before Sergachev
I think he be a solid top 4 after spending a couple of month in Utica
Hall of fame?
Juolevi for puljujarvi?
he’s got 2nd pairing potential at this point he could’ve been max top 2D if he never got injured but we still have some hope and i hope he can pull through and crack the roster this training camp
I dont think oli juolevi is a bust vacouver is a rebliding team so let im play in the nhl in a good role
My friends hate this guy and honestly I don't blame them because of all thats happened with him, but at the same time, I see a lot of upside to this kid. Hopefully this knee injury doesn't effect that
Could you play online matches? Or some shootouts?
Bust for sure
I hate how we just gave up on Hutton
I think there’s still a good chance for Juolevi to come in to the picture. Maybe at some point in the new season. He’s 21 years old. Not 31. He will probably need a full year in the AHL to have more development. There’s still lots of time for him. Sadly so far his career has been de-railed by injuries.
Never really thought about it but the D is looking pretty stacked, lot better then the previous year
If he’s gonna make the Canucks he has to be better than Jordie benn unless if they scratch him and play him a little bit. But playing him in the ahl is better for his development in my opinion.
I’m not a Vancouver fan. But I think he could still develop into a solid top 4 D. Maybe be a top pairing some day. I watched Darnell nurse suck forever. He’s finally coming into his own at 24. D men take longer to develop
Chris Hiiggins is now joining the Canucks. Thoughts?
will boeser sign?
OJ, is the hill I will live or die on. He was the pick I hoped we would draft, and I still feel the same way. He was the top ranked D hands down and injuries are the only reason he is still so polarizing. Serg is completely overated, Chic has done squat. For Gods sake he broke his back had zero time in the offseason last year and still put up 13 points in 18 games. If he has put the bad luck with injuries behind him, I fully expect his ceiling to be at the least a top 4. He has all the elite tools needed to be a top pairing D. Size, skill, IQ and an excellent skater. He has had 2 years of not being able to train inbthe summer and that imo is the only negative on him. All his skills that made him the top ranked D have not dissapeared, I actually think he will be in Van after a very shirt conditioning stint in Utica. He may even make the team out of camp since Benn can play the rightside, he only has to outperform Stech. If things workout the way I think they will, we potentially have added another elite cerebral type of guy that cost us nothing. If he does reach his ceiling, our D will be so much better then it has been the last 5 years. Having a left side for at least 2 years of Edler, Hughes, and Oj, all being capable of possibly 40 points, Hughes even more then that, possibly even OJ. Would be crazy. Myers Tram Benn, Maybe Barrie next season? And our D looks solid. Rathbone is another possible stud coming up.
I was over the moon when Tkachuk wasn't taken at #4 and irate when Benning took Juolevi at 5. Honestly one of the stupidest most predictably awful decisions in the sorry history of the Vancouver Canucks. Taking a positional need over the best player available is stupid GM 101 across any sport. This is how Michael Jordan fell to #3. Just take the best kid, develop them as best you can and move the player later if a situation presents itself.
He was having such a good year before he got hurt. Hopefully he’ll have a good training camp and be up by christmas
I think he could be solid but they screwed up becuase of tkachuck and Keller
I'll just say that Victor Mete who was picked in the 4th round that same year and played in London is now preparing for his 3rd full NHL season.
…….but that's none of my business 🐸🍵
I think Jett woo will get a spot before juolevi
Thank you so much for this video!
As a Habs fan, I was expecting some comparison with Victor Mete (they did actually played together in 2015 to 2017 in OHL) and I was wondering why he was drafted so high (considering Mete is actually a full time NHLer)
I hope he becomes an important part of the canucks, but he doesnt seem to bring so much attention like others u mentionned in the system
Can you do one on Kole lind or gadjovic?
give the kid a chance Vancouver, he hasn't even played 1 NHL game yet! He will be a solid top 4 D, Juolevi and Hughes will be the back bone of the Canucks D for years to come. 6-2", Smart, great vison, solid in offensive and defensive zones.
I think he's up by Jan 1. He was the guy that most needed a full year of development last year and didn't get it. I'm on his side and I want to see him do well.
Bust
You forgot to mention that last summer he was recovering from a back injury suffered in the gym, which meant he had to delay his off season training, and basically came to training camp out of shape. That may have contributed to his knee injury, being a step or two behind many players.
Pronunciation: Yu-Oh-levi. Not Yulevi. Throw a round O in between. And Olli with double ll: O-LL-I
Lego, thanks for being such a dedicated vloger for the team. You and Clay are the only two on Youtube that consistently put out Canuck content, even during the dog days of summer. Keep up the good work!
Big unspoken here, but can the kid stay healthy enough to get into NHL action this year? He's missed most of offseason training due to his injury, which was exactly the same situation last year with his back. Also, I watched him quite carefully in Utica, and while impressed with his passing and skating, he looked nowhere near strong enough to play defence in the NHL. The team has invested so much in this kid, that he will get looks, but at this point, I can't see him being more than a good European League player.
I still can't get over Vancouver not picking Tkachuck, what was Benning thinking?
You give me a headache
Trade him straight up for Puljarvi…
i hate videos like this, people who just state the obvious, things you can find on hockeydb and well, just about anywhere. he played x games, hes injured, he came back, thanks. how about talk about his time in the ahl? the fact he struggled defensively, didn't get a lot of even strength minutes, had to be carried, proved useful on the pp, etc etc – the areas of his game he needs to get better at, ie battle more, make quicker decisions retrieving pucks, etc – how alot of his flaws would be exposed playing in the nhl unless he vastly improves on the defensive side of the game
Top 4 in 2 years with first line PP minutes. His seam passes are as quick as his shot.
