The Pittsburgh Penguins were busy on Tuesday with a few signings and that’s where Hunter and Pat start Wednesday’s episode. They dive into Jack St. Ivany first and look at how he played down the stretch and whether he could be on the team full-time for next year. Hunter analyzes his play in his own zone and how he reminds him of a younger Chad Ruhwedel. Pat takes it a step further and thinks he could turn into an even better former Penguins defenseman. After that, they look at the other two signings and what they represent for the Penguins heading into this next season and the year after. Will they be able to make the team out of camp? Finally, Hunter and Pat reminisce on Evgeni Malkin’s “Geno Game” 15 years ago on Tuesday.

Great signing of St. Ivany. Really like his play the end of last year. If he comes into his own he will be a great depth player for us. Great show guys
lol the gateway clipper
Penguins were on a mission in 2009,such a fun team to watch! St. Ivony will be the next Peterson!
JSI is surrounded with experienced players, the foundations there he just has to not try and do too much and keep learning, by the end of his contract he may be taking Letangs spot
2009 was our generation's Cup team. I remember Geno's goal against Carolina and you guys talking about it not just gets me nostalgic for that, but also my personal Mellon Arena experiences like watching Mario's last goal before his first retirement in the playoffs against the Flyers in 97 as a little kid. It was unreal the ovation he got.
For defensemen prospects, I'd prefer to see them spend that time, learning the system and doing their best to be defensively accountable. The offense will come, in due time.
St ivany was a good signing. Gruden hasn't impressed me at all but at that price point you really can't complain. Kral could be interesting. Good size young man with puck moving skills and solid in his own zone. If he pans out in ahl im happy for him. A 1 year deal at that price point is worth the gamble on him.
I've been saying for a long time that the Penguins need another Mark Eaton or Rob Scuderi. St. Ivany looks like he can slide evolve into that rock steady defenseman that the casual observer misses until he shuts down a big offensive talent at a crucial point in a game or a series.
