Gotta agree on how bad this hurts any organization that try’s to help a player through addiction. The player can fail numerous times to meet the player assistance program’s conditions and the organization can’t do a thing about it. At this point Val has seemingly failed to meet conditions twice based off the rules and still can’t be terminated unless he fails two more times? This sadly encourages any organization going forward to immediately terminate the contract before the player enters the assistance program. I wonder if this sets a toxic precedent going forward
Rudo and AJ are big foot guys
At what point does the mantra of “he’s earned every right & opportunity” clash with the reality of the situation, which is going into season 3 of this & 2 calendar years he’s holding the organization back during the peak of their cup window. This is a business, the Avs need to start treating this situation more with their heads & less with sentimentality.
The assistance program has to provide consequences for not following the rules, that's one of the way it's helping the players take responsibility for their actions…There should be an option to terminate the player contract on the third strike against them, though.
So does anyone even know what substance vals abusing???
Deboer was tipped off by his spy network & called the league for a 'random' test
Unpopular opinion but the Gabe situation is holding this team back and now becoming borderline ridiculous.
Question for AJ: hypothetically speaking if the team does go out and spend his cap hit this offseason, how the hell do you expect the team to be able to afford to take him off LTIR? That’s like using a credit card without the cash in the bank to cover the charges. I don’t disagree that this situation is holding the organization back the longer it drags on and I get he’s been out for two seasons and there’s no guarantee he comes back but that could blow up in their face if he does come back… you’d end up needing to just park him on LTIR or trade someone
Rudo: stop speculating!
Meanwhile they're speculating in GREAT detail that this is all about a drug test.
What’s to stop players from taking a leave of absence and getting treatment privately instead of entering the PAP? It seems like it’s in both player’s and team’s best interest to circumvent the PAP if possible
At best, a 50% chance Landy plays again. Or maybe a few games, then retires.
A timeline of season to season isn’t encouraging. Sad.
But, I’ll happily dine on 🐦⬛ if I’m wrong.
Landy is our Carey Price…he isn't gonna play. He was talking about how I have to skate now…he can't take 20+yrs of doing something so automatically and change it in a few months and hope his knee stays together
