VHL is the KHL equivalent of the AHL, in the regular season he went 10-5-4 with a 2.00 GAA and .927 sv% and in the playoffs he went 16-5 with a 2.15 and .932 to win the championship. He also got into 17 games in the KHL where he went 6-7-0 with a 2.51 and .921. He’s 6’1, 170 lbs and has 2 years left on his entry-level deal with the Leafs so hopefully he’s over with the Marlies next year.

It seems like the VHL is like the AHL of the KHL.

So hopefully he makes a jump next season and can perform at a higher level. It’d be nice for us to strike gold on a goalie one day.

  3. I’m always so curious to see how our goalie depth shakes out. Next year is especially interesting with the ECHL affiliate in flux with Newfoundland folding. Hildeby is a lock for the Marlies, but outside of that seems like a question mark. Petruzzelli, Peksa, McKay, Cavalin, and now Akhtyamov.

Could see Petruzzelli moving along to make room, and maybe McKay as well?
