Let’s bring a little perspective. Not a Vegas fan, but not a hater either.
The reason there was so much hate year 1 is because the team came in at a fortuitous time that allowed them to get better players than any expansion team has had before.
That’s not Vegas’ fault but that’s irrelevant. Fans aren’t rational, and that just seems “unfair”. Sour grapes? Probably, but there’s a sense from Vegas fans that the hate isn’t warranted and it absolutely is.
Top teams are always hated, unless they are an underdog that rises up.
This year Stone was a big topic and the one thing I found interesting is that the Vegas fans seem to think the hate is unfair but the same thing happened to TB when they did Cup runs. Complaining about LTIR players coming back isn’t anything new, especially when it’s a high contract player.
But in terms of overall sports Fandom, what Vegas has been able to accomplish as an expansion team is unprecedented. When that happens, you don’t earn love, you earn hate. You didn’t experience the lows of Fandom, so you’re seen as being unworthy for the highs.
Not going to debate if that’s valid or not, but it is how people think.
Embrace it or don’t but fighting it only makes the hate stronger.
